What are you watching on long indoor sessions? Movies?

First they started adding commercials in Prime…then this? :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I just got a ToA update from Disney+ saying that customers may now see ads in their service, even if they are paying for the ad-free level of service.

Love how there’s even a word for this now

It’s everyone chasing stupid live sports driving up costs and driving down movie / TV Shows. Put stupid sports on its own subscription, and make sports fans cover the full cost.

Ask our UK brethren how that worked out for them with cycling coverage.

The problem is that live sports drives subscription adoption…and in a world with more platform choices and flattening demand, they have no choice but to chase live sports.

Make sports an add-on, for those of us who don’t watch mainstream sports that drive the cost don’t have to pay for them.

I hear ya, and don’t disagree…but the numbers only work if you spread the pain around to the entire subscriber base.

I’ve said many many times that I would love if I could just buy a subscription to “All Sports”. I would then use rabbit ears for local news. I have zero need for the other 200 channels I pay for.

I read streaming services make more on the ad supported tiers than those who pay for no-ads. The whole streaming thing is pretty crazy. Now you pay for a service to show you commercials? How did we get here?
