Wahoo kickr core cadence help

Hi, I have just set up my Wahoo kicker core I have done a spin down and when peddling trying to get my cadence up to 85 my target power is on 50 and power is on 87. I am on my big ring at the front middle ring at the back. Can anyone give me any tips?

Maybe this article will help?

I’m trying to understand the question.

Is it that you are trying to get down to 50 watts at a cadence of 85 and the lowest you can go is 87? Maybe you should look at a fluid trainer, but I’m not sure they would give you accurate/usable results at that low of a target. Interesting too because most trainers announce their upper limit, but I’m not sure if any declare their actual lower limits. Not that I’m surprised their is one, but ‘spiral of death’ works on cadence and demand targets but might not be related to your issue.

Yes, a max, but no minimum.

I’m guessing at your question:

So at a cadence of 85 your power is 87W?
You want your power to be 50W at a cadence of 85?
If this is what you want you need to be in the smaller ring to start. Then shift the rest to find the cog that gives you 50W

That totally makes sense thank you when I went further into my workout and the power increased it levelled itself out and I was able to hold my power level with my target and my cadence was at 90

Depending on the app the OP is using, experimenting with a demand of 50 watts (ERG mode) and going through the possible gearing to get to that should help determine if it’s achievable and what gear they need to be in.

This makes me wonder how low I can go on the 2T.

You can use easier gears on a Kickr to change resistance unless you are trying this in erg mode. Even in erg mode, experiment with different gears.

Based on what I’m seeing in your rides, I think @FrankTuna is right about the wattage floor. I’d keep your bike in a really low gear for the time being since a lot of your recovery intervals are at a pretty low power target.

This means shifting to the small ring up front and at least halfway up or maybe even one or two down from the top of the cassette in the back.

Let me know if this helps! :handshake:
