Upload Run and Swim workouts from Garmin/Strava to TR calendar (Feature Request)

Do we know if its likely to be via other services like Garmin or Strava? Id like to know where to store my data ready for import…

We are working on improving what our support for swim/runs would look like, but we can’t yet share details as to what all that involves. Sorry! :zipper_mouth_face:

Still no update on when this will roll out? It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time.

SO many moving parts to this feature! Sorry we cant get this out quicker, a handful of higher priority fixes to roll out first (like that long awaited mobile update!). Thanks for being patient!

Im sorry tthere are more important things than triathletes too!

Ive been waiting too many years for this, I like the TR calendar but its a total ballache to manually keep in sync, to have to use a the mobile browser, to have it not scroll properly just to get to the weekly summary.

Im switching to TrainingPeaks from next week, for the 2021 season.

Do we have a choice? :joy: I’m kinda leaning the way @JoeX is contemplating a switch to Training Peaks for tracking purposes–assuming my first Ironman goes ahead next year I need to be on top of things. While the current Calendar was a great step-up as a feature when it was released, the development on it to make it even better since then has been quite poor and very slow. I make good use of it for planning as a straight calendar, but for analytics and overall tracking for my triathlon training it is very lackluster (i.e. I can’t even sort the TSS chart by hours (or any other metric) instead of TSS as a simple thing).

LOL I do get it. I wish I could provide a better timeline for when this feature would be released. Sorry for the delay. :expressionless:

@IvyAudrain

I don’t see what’s funny as the delay is beginning to become a bit of a joke. It’s been so long now that I think I’ll have to leave TR too as it’s such a pain in the ass to do all the manual tracking.

I dont think this is a delay.

Road map doesnt mean imminent.

This is the roadmap (As of Oct of 2018)

Then @Nate_Pearson gave us this…

Yes, some has been waiting for a long time.
But sometimes things take a long time to build.
They are currently testing the new iOS app.

I want this. But suggesting to quit TR because they dont have this, is a bit silly IMO.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I though @wyku’s comment was in good humor. :+1:

Hey we can all have our own opinions

It’s also been mentioned on the podcast and on numerous other occasions other than the couple someone just posted above. It’s just taking too long in my opinion. I’ve been using TR for 3 years now and can honestly say that development seem to be grinding to a halt. Another item that was spoken about by TR about 18 months ago was the workout creator. This is still using adobe air which today is just unbelievable. Yet now the workout creater update has been pretty much put on the back burner. Just my twopence worth.

Absolutly…
but just because you have an opinion, it doesnt mean that I am not allow to thing is silly.

Thant said. You do whatever you think is right for your training.
If not having this features (swim/run into TR and a better workout creator) is a deal breaker, then its ok to move on.

For the record, I am not defending TR from a user standpoint.
My defensive stand comes from a software developer standpoint.
As a software developer I KNOW FOR A FACT, that things takes time.
Doing things the right way takes a long time. Then add the covid-19 earlier this year.

You would rather have a buggy or lackluster app but quick, or a more robust app that you have to wait?
I would rather wait.
I will be pissed if the end product is bad after taking this long, tho.

I’ve been a user for 8 years and have dealt with that feeling a lot over the years. :joy: We’ve gone though a few complete rebuilds that were supposed to make features easier and quicker to develop (while completely grid-locking any new feature development), but things just seem to take a really long time to be released. I know TR likes to put out a really polished product which is typically a good thing once the features are released, but I think it’s sometimes a detriment to progress–that’s just my opinion. If only features that were thought up could be put out as quickly as the Group Workouts feature was from concept to release! That’s also a case where a basic function was released then tweaked/added to to make it better along the way with incremental upgrades, which doesn’t seem to happen at the same rate with other features.

That one is quite baffling to me as well, since workouts are THE key aspect to TR and having it as a standalone app that is almost as old as TR itself rather than built into the current app/website is pretty crazy. Also add to the fact the effort that was made to be able to create workouts in Training Peaks and Final Surge rather than in TR–not that that is a bad feature of course, just weird it took priority (easier to implement than a new workout creator too I imagine, but still).

I’ll definitely nudge the team about both of these feature requests. I know Workout Creator has been in the queue for a good amount of time as well. Thank you for your thoughtful and constructive feedback, it helps us stay accountable in our goal to constantly improve! :raised_hands:

My theory is that the future won’t be available until the podcast crew is done with road racing. When they are ready to focus on triathlon (perhaps end of 2021), they will announce it in the beginning of thier training.
I hope I’m wrong and we will see it soon

Onur

We just have to get the stuff that’s scheduled before it out.

We have “thing 1” coming soon and the new mobile app is almost out.

iOS only…correct?

You posting here and saying “the new mobile app is almost out” is encouraging.

This is not group workouts on mobile but some new feature, correct :fist::pray:? Asking for a friend

(Still hoping for a not too far (maybe MVP) rollout of run/swim import.)
