You will get a number to put on the two bags. When you roll in someone yells out “number 157” and they grab the bag. The people are really helpful. It may be a bit different this due to Covid, but in the past they would fill your bottles, offer you their food, cokes!!! etc.

It is definitely slower than having your own crew. But honestly unless you think you are shooting for top 10 or maybe top 50, this won’t be make or break for you.

Pro tip. I write a list of all the things I need to do at the station and put it in the bag. When I get there, I give the list to a helper and have them run through everything so I don’t forget something. It’s better to be methodical and get everything done as opposed to rushing and forgetting something!

I don’t recall there being a drop bag service at DK in 2019…in fact, they were quite clear that you had to have a support team in place in order to race.

Are you talking about a for-hire service to act as your support team and using them as a drop-bag service?

Yes the crew for hire service. You have to give them the bags the day before and they take them to check points.

Gotcha…my buddy did one of those services when we did it and he said it was awesome. (Not certain which one though).

I just use the basic one through Unbound. All the money goes to support the local schools. So it’s not like getting CTS or one of those that are more expensive. But it works well and supports a good cause.

I think this event is much better if you con your friend into doing it with you.

I would be less likely to go if I was solo the whole 5 days.

Yeah that’s what I’m doing. Thanks for the info

Anyone know if there will be people live tweeting or posting splits and video and stuff and where that will be?

With the amount of talent there, I feel like this should be on redbull tv.

Though I’m still very confused as to how a rolling gravel race in the middle of Kansas has become so popular.

He’s got 960 cals in those bottles so he can take a sip of the mix and then chase it with water from the pack. I’ve been starting to try this strategy on my regular rides as well.

Kansas is like the geographical center of the continental US -shrugs-

I know there are some heavy hitters from Colorado heading out there.

it’s going to be broadcast “live” by flobikes if you’re wanting to watch. The thing I read said you need an annual subscription though which is frankly a pretty terrible deal considering they seem to be losing a lot (most?) of their pro cycling events to GCN+ and the subscription is not cheap (I paid $157 last year).

Started packing up today. My buddy is bringing over all the tools and we are going to double check both of my bikes. Started cooking food for the trip out, I struggle to find places to eat besides chipotle since I have celiac. Chipotle and me dont seem to mesh well, so bringing my own rice and sweet potatoes and pasta will make life way easier.

Need to print out course material for my dad so he makes it to the right spots for my SAG.

I feel like I should bring a sharpie to have people sign the white jersey I am going to wear.

Good luck to you all! Will be watching the coverage on FloBikes since I still have that subscription from last year’s most-expensive-PPV-ever Giro :slightly_smiling_face:

Hope the gravel is fast and the hills … not so hilly!
