UK users looking for a Lasko fan, check this out... Thanks to Hugo1!

I have a couple of Cleva fans for my indoor cycling (one Airmover with a remote control plug socket, and one Cardio54). They’re great products, but something I’ve found over the winter is that, even when they’re on the lowest fan setting, the flow speed is sometimes too much. Whenever the temperatures are around 10 degrees in my garage, I find I still need a bit of cooling flow, to avoid getting sweaty, but even the lowest setting on the fans makes me too cold, particularly when doing easier rides.

To get around this, I designed and 3D-printed a diffuser for the fan nozzles. The diffuser slows down the airflow. It also causes the flow to spread out more, covering more of my body, which is another benefit.

The plots below show the difference in airflow speed up and down the centreline of the fan. The top plot shows measurements for the fastest fan setting and the bottom plot shows the airflow profiles for slowest setting. There are more details/photos/videos on my blog here.

The slower speeds are perfect for colder days. Once spring arrives and the temperatures warm up, I’ll be taking the diffuser off the two fans to get the fulling cooling power back, especially for any hard workouts.
