Tulsa Tough livestream [spoilers]

Pretty easy to figure out…dangerous riding, cocky attitudes, and a complete lack of other people’s safety as a justification to win.

Fixed it for you. And I’m sorry, I just can’t listen to you play the race card. Really dude? After watching the video, you can’t see why people don’t like them?

If you can’t recognize that there is at least a subconscious racial reaction to how people respond to them, you are kidding yourself.

Guys like Cav and Sagan do all those same things and are lauded…but these guys are c*nts.

Weird, right?

Hahaha, you’re kidding right? Sagan got relegated last year at the Tour rightly so for his actions. And got criticized heavily for his blocking antics this year at the Giro, actions way less dangerous than Cory’s this weekend. Groenewegen got death threats for his. But criticize the Williams brothers, automatic racist. Come on.

And I’m in no way saying that yelling in Cory’s face and calling him a c*** is right either. It’s just not dangerous. Should he be penalized as well? Probably, yea. Am I a fan of sh!t talking in sports? Not really. But it’s nowhere near as harmful as physical violence.

Am I saying there are no racist haters of them out there? Absolutely not. But to say THAT is why people dislike them is ludicrous. Are we at point in society that if we criticize a black guy for something, it HAS to be because we’re racist? Couldn’t be his actions that we’re criticizing, no that’s crazy. I’ll criticize unsafe, dangerous riding when I see it, regardless of who the rider is.

Lemme know where I said that…I’ll save you the time - I didn’t. I said it was a factor and even listed it third.

Again, if you can’t see how race plays a factor in the situation, you are kidding yourself.

Your Sagan example is a a non-sequitur. I’m not taking about race officials doing their job…I am talking about the reaction from other riders and the public. Fact - Sagan has a history of dangerous riding (and generally acting like an ass), but he is arguably the world’s most popular rider.

Ok, that’s easy.

Yea, you were vague the first time but we all know what you meant. Plus you were pretty explicit in the second response.

Didn’t feel like reading my post before responding I guess. It’s ok, I’ll quote myself.

Again, Sagan got a ton of hate for his blocking at the Giro, including the commentators the next day. So I’m a little unsure of how you say he’s lauded for it. And even the public response to the tour stage didn’t paint him in a great picture. Yea, he may be popular, but he gets hate all the same when it’s deserved.

Nice job snipping my responses to suit your narrative…not certain why you can’t grasp the concept of “a factor in the reaction”.

I never once said or intimated it was the “only” factor.

Lol, ok. I snipped it to save space, I didn’t edit anything so if you think I’m trying to suit my narrative, it’s all still there. You literally are doing the same thing with mine.

Literally swerving into another rider because he was disrupting the train. Not dangerous at all.

I’m glad Tulsa Tough is over because I’d hate for other people to read this thread actually looking for discussions about Tulsa. Or racing.

Mods, can we clean this up a bit?

No you snipped it because it literally contradicted what you claimed I was saying.

Again, there is a difference between saying it is A factor (and even a subconscious one) vs. saying it was THE factor.

Later…

so…how about that poor Cat 3 fella that dropped a chain yesterday

Two ways to get on camera if you are not L3gion:

  1. Take a flyer knowing you will be caught.
  2. Be a part of a crash.

Seems like #1 is a good option.

Back on topic…It is interesting to see the power data from Tulsa.

Here is Sam Boardman’s from Friday night: https://www.strava.com/activities/5454494093 He pretty much towed L39ion and the whole field in that race (and the rest of the weekend too)
Compare that to Chris Tolley from the same race who was further back in the pack and is a lot bigger than Sam: https://www.strava.com/activities/5454500116/analysis

Sam’s is quite a bit smoother. Obviously that’s rider type and where they were in the pack. The one meme page is roasting Chris for hitting 1800w and not hitting 40mph

Oh man, I felt so bad for that guy.

Tough break. Never shift chainrings under power!

But how about the Cat 3 winner? He’s a 19 year old out of Belize who was racing Cat 4/5 up until Tulsa.

Here’s a video showing how it all went down, including the dropped chain that I’m thinking got wedged between the small ring and the frame:

Wow…Sam’s VI was only 1.03 for a 60min crit…that’s nuts.

Well Sam literally sat at the front and just ran a “steady” pace, and ripped apart the field doing so. I said it above, but he’s my rider of the weekend.
