Tulsa Tough livestream [spoilers]

Not to derail the thread, but is there a World Champs for Masters Crit racing?

There is no WC for crits…but crits are a road discipline, so if you are the WC on the road, you wear the stripes in a crit.

If JA signed up for a crit, he’d still be rocking the rainbow jersey b

That’s what I wondered. Except for the whole national jersey kerfuffle.

Plus it gets further confusing when you look at TT, or XC racing.

It’s not clear (to me) that the World Champ in XCO should be wearing the jersey in XCC (they do). Anton Cooper doesn’t wear the National Champ jersey in XCC, only XCO. That could also be a choice thing for finding extra time to show off the original trade team kit.

I think that is a good point that they are blah, but I think Americans are less focused in the story and rather in the action. We like to have the action right in front of us and have it multiple times, which crits offers both. Spectators can post up on a corner and see the riders go by them 10-20 times rather then driving to a point along the stage race to see the riders go by once. I think crits offer everything that Americans love, which is action, speed, drama, and the crashes.

Glad Jonathan Lee seems to be ok and hopefully it is so. The kit looked good… maybe that’s some consolation.

Curious about something the feed just showed from last night. Cory reached over and grabbed and pulled another guy’s jersey. Did the officials miss this or is this allowed now?

Then later it looked like a guy purposely swerved over into another guy causing a crash. Did anything come of this? I know the P1 field tempers got hot, but both of these actions should be automatic disqualification in my opinion.

I saw Cory do that right at the beginning and then the train started. I didn’t see the intentional crash. I wonder what’s the story behind those actions. Justin’s instagram said that there was a lot of disrespectful riding behind their train, so I wonder if that had anything to do with it.

No disrespect to everyone else, but Sam Boardman is the most impressive part of L39ion. Dude is diesel and pretty much towed them around all weekend at the front.

Yea, looking again at the crash, I don’t think it was intentional. The one rider came across hard, but I think he was avoiding something. From first glance it looked bad.

So… racing. If that was the reason, he should have been removed from the race IMO.

Crit courses have a max speed limit, appears legion puts the race on cruise control 1mph under the limit

Yeah, that is no bueno. Keep your damn hands on the bars and don’t touch / grab your competitors.

It was on IG last night but seems to be gone now, it was a video from Cory’s GoPro helmet cam. The guy rode by calling him a c*nt, some swears ensued, Cory grabbed him by the jersey, then some more exchanges, end of video.

Not sure what led to it, just what was posted which is now gone. Just know it was a rider from Elevate.

That was Eric Young.

Ty Magner and Sam will just do about anything for anyone. Ty has cleaned up USA crits for a while back when Brad Huff was his leadout/do everything.

I’m not a race official, nor am I a top end crit racer. That looked illegal AF, retaliatory and not within any gray area. It’s one thing to push a guy, but to ball up some Lycra in your hand…?

Also, I apparently don’t understand what ā€œdisrespectfulā€ riding is when its behind the team in question. I literally don’t ā€œunderstandā€ so I’d love to hear what the ā€œdisrespectfulā€ riding could be from someone who actually comprehends top-tier crit racing. Are other teams supposed to genuflect prior to approaching the rear wheel of Legion’s line? Kiss the ring? Honestly, not trolling, not criticizing anything other than grabbing an opponent during a bike race…

Yeah they took it down, and Justin responded to someone who said they would go to Elevate’s sponsor that it isn’t necessary and it was all taken care of.

Pretty easy to figure out…dominance, attitude and…I’ll just leave it at ā€œother factorsā€.

Oh no, yelling. How will he recover from that emotional stress? It also cut out the push by Cory. And the swerve in the corner before which prompted the yelling. There’s no question who’s at fault.

Hey, if the name fits. I guess he just wanted to live up to being a c***.
