Truly custom training plan - how to?

I’ve been tinkering, but haven’t figured it out yet, so I thought I’d ask. So far, it seems that the custom training plan feature is locked on providing plans based on a traditional 7 day week. I have no restrictions on the days I train or don’t train, and have found that repeating the same 7 day template isn’t really optimal for me.
Is there a way to have the AI system devise a plan that assigns rests when needed, but otherwise gives me an optimal workout on any given day? I realize that an approach like this would only really make sense when building out workouts maybe a couple of weeks in advance, not months in advance.
I’ve tried just creating a plan with workouts every day, with the intention of resting when the app tells me to, but the workouts are unnecessarily short to preclude having 16-18 hour or greater training weeks planned out with the assumption that there won’t be any rest days.
Tips?

Hey there, @RHBoss, welcome to the forum!

Just to clarify, it sounds like you want a plan that’s somewhat built on the fly, as in we’d give you the type of workout that you need each day based on what you did previously. Is that right?

The best solution right now is to use TR to build out a plan that looks like something you can follow with consistency, and try to follow along as best as possible.

With Adaptive Training and TR’s fatigue management system, we’ll constantly be looking at what the best workout for you is for each day and prescribing what’s optimal, whether it’s a hard workout, an easy day, or rest.

While we do have starting points that we recommend, you can customize your training schedule however you’d like in Plan Builder, so you get a truly custom plan.

The other option here is using TrainNow, which picks the best workout for you each day based on your recent training history, which is close to what I think you’re looking for. The only thing to keep in mind with TrainNow is that it won’t prescribe recovery weeks, so you’ll need to keep an eye on your training and give yourself recovery weeks every fourth week, like we do in all of our custom plans.

Let me know if this helps and if I’m missing anything. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks so much & happy riding!
