Thanks for taking a look, but since I’m traveling for a couple of days I won’t be able to do tomorrows workout and test your theory that Saturdays workout will adapt. However, it was the same issue last Saturday and that workout didn’t adapt as expected. To me it seems like the Tuesday and Saturday anaerobic workouts in this block doesn’t affect eachother. Anyways, thanks for the good luck wishes, hopefully a long winter of TR rides will pay off.
Can see the small updates in action. Noticed my TrainNow recomendation and plan adaptation recomendation were the same earlier and it was a great shout, would have probably not completed the original plan workout.
Two weeks ago I did that level 6.3 workout in week three of base 3, as noted in my comment above. Last week was a recovery week. Got an ftp bump and progression levels recalibrated.
My VO2 PL is 5.3 now, but my VO2 workout today (first week of build) is a level 1.5 VO2?
The Ai is insisting that my Saturday anaerobic workout should be a level 2 workout, even though my PL is 5.8. It was the same issue all through my last block as well.
As of now, it looks like you’ve got a level 7 workout in place on Saturday..
Regardless, it’s important to know that your prescribed workouts aren’t always going to be above your current Progression Levels.
There’s a lot that goes into what workouts we recommend. It’s not purely based on progressing your PLs at all costs, but rather what workout is best for you right now, given your recent training, among other things.
A good coach wouldn’t always be adamant about prescribing workouts that push your boundaries further than before. They want you to do the workout that’s challenging, but still allows you to keep your training momentum up as you move forward. Sometimes that’s a breakthrough workout, and sometimes it’s something that you may have done in the past that will feel tough for you on the given day.
Thats because i declined the adaptations. As I said, this has been going on for weeks. I have had weeks where I did more than prescribed earlier in the week and weeks where I have done less, but for every week the Saturday anaerobic workout has been adapted to arround level 2. The week I actually did enough to warrant a drop for the Saturday workout it was adapted down to a 1.5 PL.
Last time I commented that I was constantly getting anaerobic workouts that was far from challenging your respons was that it would fix itself leading in to the next workout. It didn’t. I’m sure a good coach wouldn’t always want to push the boundaries, but after 5 weeks of not managing to pick a propper level for the workouts he might stop and reconsider his approach.
What I’m seeing as prescribed for today on the backend is Striped +1, which is a level 7.6.
Saturday is showing Joe Devel +2, which is a level 5.2.
I’m not sure why you would have seen a level 1.5 or 2. If you see adaptations like that again, could you take a screenshot to send over?
It does look like everything from my end is working as it should. It’s normal for your workout levels to sometimes be slightly lower toward the end of the week than they were at the start when you were fresh. Your body is less concerned about Workout Levels and power numbers and more concerned with effort. What matters is if the workout that was supposed to feel hard felt hard.
By Saturday, you’ve probably picked up quite a bit of fatigue from all of your training, racing, and extra riding. TrainerRoad notices that, and that’s why you might see adaptations suggesting lowering your workouts’ levels toward the end of the week.
It’s been a few weeks since you’ve done an Anaerobic workout on a Saturday, but let me know how this one goes! I’d recommend using the workouts I provided here, as those are our best recommendations at the moment.
Again, if you get adaptations that seem off to you, please send an image my way. Seeing them would help out a lot!
Yeah, that’s not even close to what I’m seeing on my end. I never got an adaptation for todays workout which was in my calendar as Kettle at 5.7. I self selected a productive workout and did Koppen at 6.1 instead. After completing that one my Saturday workout was yet again suggested adapted to Colorado, which is a 2.0 workout. This time I accepted the adaptation and have also PM’d you a screenshot.
