Trainerroad visit to Australia

It is normally decided on the day. Just because it says 10-20mm, doesn’t mean it’ll actually materialise.

You can always race on Tuesday evening. That’s when big hitters tend to show up.

The one week race licence must be bought online, they don’t sell them at the races.

The camera licence was introduced a while ago but no one cares about it. It was basically introduced by the governing body to cover themselves, and make you agree that you won’t release footage that will “bring the sport into disrepute” etc. You don’t need to tell anyone that you have a camera, many people race with one. I’ve never had it checked at a club race.

Tuesday night Heffron sign on is at 5:30pm, race starts at 6pm. Not sure what the entry fee is as I haven’t raced that one. Saturday afternoon racing is $20 entry fee.

I’m sure this has been mentioned, but Heffron Tuesday nights are run as a handicap, and the racing is significantly harder than on Saturdays. The best cyclists in the area race that one. If you can make it, I would definitely encourage you to do both Sat and Tuesdays, as the racing is very different between them.

If it is raining, most races will be cancelled. Most of the information (news on cancellations etc.) on the racing are released through Facebook. For Sat arvo racing, check the Facebook Page “Randwick Cycling Club”. For Tuesday night Heffron, check the facebook group “Heffron Park Tuesday Night Racing”. Most of the time a call is made a few hours before the start.

One last thing, there’s races on almost every day of the week in Sydney at the moment. If a race is cancelled, chances are it will be ok weather another day and you’ll be able to race elsewhere. There’s a person called “Andy Matthews” that posts a roundup of all the races in the upcoming week to the facebook group “Sydney Uni Velo SUVelo”

Found a Crit on the Friday night that could be fun. HART is a car-free 1.5-kilometre circuit, a training facility for learner motorcyclists, and Friday night crits.

Armoury at Newington is on Thursdays at 6:15 Kick Off I think and HART is on Friday Night about the same time, there is also racing at Sutherland. Andy’s report usually comes out on Wednesday.

Saturday 7th of march says 0-5mm and 50% chance of rain so it should be on.

Just keep an eye on BOM (our national weather bureau) - http://www.bom.gov.au/nsw/forecasts/sydney.shtml

Thanks everyone! I’ll be checking this thread too.

Anyone interested in getting to/from the Sunday ride from SHB northern steps? Let me know in here because I’ll likely be riding from the inner west.

Also what was the plan with the brewery? Where does that fit in the ride? And is @Nate_Pearson all good for a lift to Terry Hills?

Ill be riding to Terry Hills from Seaforth if anyone wants to ride in with me.

As much as I hate doing it, I think it’ll be easier for me to drive there. I am in Lugarno.

Same for me mate. If I can’t get a bunch to go I’ll just drive it. It will be 150km+ otherwise and the timing will be an issue.

Brewery after we are done. I have a lift too.

I think we should take @Nate_Pearson to Baxter Inn.

Brewery in bibs? ohhh boy.

Want to meet up mate? Ride in to Terry Hills.

Meet on the corner of Manly and Sydney Road? How much is a enough time to get to Terry Hills?

Says it’s 15k so we shall say 40mins. I’m not a Sydney native flying up from Hobart.I don’t know the roads only what Strava told me.

EDIT: Apologies but I’ve decided to drive. Sorry if that’s put anyone out.

Hi All,

Here is the route I will be taking from the Inner West. Please ignore the route on the way back after the Harbour Bridge, I’ll go a completely different way. This was just to give you an idea of the length.

152.7 km Road Cycling Route on Strava

Nate Pearson Invitational From IW is a 152.7 km Road Cycling Route created by Justin Hillis on March 6, 2020. It has a maximum elevation gain of 2,808 meters. Sign up for Strava to save this route and share it with your friends.

Personally I’m not sure why we’re heading out to Basin Beach just to come back and do McCars (the road is tight and terrible at that time of day) but I’m a massive whinger so ignore me.

The trip back on the Pacific highway will be pacey, as is required at that time of day. I won’t be staying for the pub because I don’t feel like sitting around a pub in lycra.

I’ll be at the Harbour Bridge steps at roughly 7:30am, which leaves plenty of time to get to the meet point and have a quick coffee.

Cheers all and let me know if you’ll be joining at any point.

And its pouring down…

Yep, weather looks very sketchy.

Are we all going to end up using TrainerRoad today?

I think the weather is going to improve later? Looks like it’s supposed to stop at 9am.
