Probably the heaviest bike posted, but fast in a headwind! Still trying to figure out what these words in workout instructions mean: standing, drops, hoods, and sit-bones. :joy:. But i do wish there was a practical way to do the one leg drills.

Loved the Bon Jon’s but only had a few hundred miles on them. I sold the bike a few months back. They blew up close to 38mm on my 25mm internals.

I know handlebars are a very personal thing, but I can’t say enough good things about the Enve AR. It’s got a nice amount of flare which I love. I’m running 42cm so they’re a bit more narrow in the hoods which leaves plenty of grip in the drops. I ride 61cm/XL bikes which usually come with 44cm bars and no flare…I can’t go back!!

trying out 1x in my gravel bike.
kind of a weirdo setup, but it’s working well.

sram rival axs shifters/brakes
campagnolo 03 rotors
shimano XT M8100 10-45 cassette
shimano 12 speed chain
sram gx axs rear mech
random 40t narrow wide oval chainring
xcadey spider power meter
xcadey 160mm cranks

also thoroughly cleaned and ceramic coated the frame while I had it torn down

Hi, nice bike!

I am also building a bike from the ground up, and considering a few components you used.

How do you like the Berk saddle?

Also, do you like the pro vibe evo? I am considering to get it, but I am not sure how it will look on my non aero frame. Can you share a few pics of the cockpit itself?

Thanks!

I really like the Berk saddle. But then again, saddles, bib’s etc are very personal. I may find them great, but the person next to me can find them awfull.

The pro vibe evo was a good upgrade. The ergonomics are good and you have many hand positions. It’s also future proof. Since you can achieve all kind of internal cable integrations with it. So if you buy a new bike, just install the pro vibe evo on tou new frame.

Be aware that the spacers of the pro vibe evo are not for sale yet. I spoke to a sales person of Pro and het told me they expect them on the market somewhere in Q2.

ps. The tape I placed on the hoods is because the rubbers of the hoods where starting to wear out already. Not pretty, but this way I get some extra life out of them.

Thanks @Bestevaer for the pics!

I love the cockpit, but it is definitely not a fit for my frame. I will go for some more rounded lines.

Got lucky online and snagged a Epic Evo Expert. Put a mirror saddle on it and love it. First ever Mtb and a nice change up from my Tarmac.

Both are very nice. Thoughts/comparisons between the two frames?

Don’t get me wrong…that Aethos is awesome. But man that Venge looks good :star_struck::star_struck::star_struck::star_struck:

I race ultra distance bikepacking races and use the Fairlight Secan, it’s a steel gravel bike.

I’ve only done about 7 hours on the Aethos (snow and salt everywhere on the road) but it’s a lot different than the Venge. Noticeably worse at holding speed but it wants to climb like crazy. Feels like I don’t have to downshift as much and it feels very nimble. I didn’t want to buy into it but the CS BB is incredibly smooth and makes riding the Aethos an absolute joy, YMMV. Increased comfort is overrated IMO, I never had an issue riding the Venge for anything up to a century but the Aethos does feel slightly less chattery. I’ll also note that the fully loaded Aethos is ~7.1kg so not a weight weenie build but I do have some plans to drop the weight under 7kg.

My new Aethos build. Not terribly original, but I do love riding this bike. It’s a noticeable improvement over my Canyon Endurace in terms of handling and acceleration. I perceive a nicer ride on this bike, but then again I run 30mm tubeless at 55/52psi. I will say that the Hambini BB is absolutely worth it. Feels like a big upgrade over Dura Ace and Wheels Mfg. The Hunt wheels ride just fine, although the hub noise is probably a touch too loud for my taste. Might need a little more grease on the pawls.
