I am happy they informed people early that something is coming even though it is risky as some will be disappointed if it won’t be delivered. I rather have it this way than not sharing anything until it’s 100% polished. Delays are just part of the game🤝.
Trainerroad as it is, is really great but I am still looking forward to what the update will change. It sounds a bit like some features were inspired by Xert (which I liked a lot as well but it was a bit too dynamic for my taste). Trainerroad is the only workout player which my wife likes using because it ‘just’ works when she starts the app. Everything works right away, devices connect without an issue, nothing disconnects mid ride, just fabulous. And I believe there may be more people like that. Personally I have a higher tolerance to bugs and issues in favour of new features but that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
Yeah, but I’m hoping this new rev is simpler and easier to understand and use. I want to spend more time riding and training than I do having to figure out the app.
My impression was the 01-Jan date was not some marking push but rather they were really proud and excited by what was coming. Every post by the TR team has shown that and its odd to assume marketing malice to it.
Is it really asking too much for an official update (good or bad) at this point?
I’m not being critical of the delay - I’m sure TR is working very hard on this, and are more keen than anyone to get it over the line. I am being critical about the sudden blackout on communication.
Anyway, life goes on. The current product still works as well as it did this time last month, and it’s still helping me optomise my cycling. Looking forward to the update, whenever that may be.
What could they say in an update that would actually make you satisfied? Give you a date that it will be out? It’s clearly uncertain. Last time Nate tried giving a date, it didn’t end up working out and people here are complaining that he did that. So I doubt he wants to do that again. They would obviously release it now if it was ready.
If they’re too open with details and it ends up being wrong, people are mad. If they aren’t detailed enough with updates, people are mad.
So realistically the most honest thing they can say is that they’re working hard on it and it will be out soon. Which is what they’ve said.
For context, I really don’t care if / when this release comes - I’m just using TR as is
But I did want to say I don’t think anyone forced or expected Nate to give a date? TR launched a big ad campaign and then went totally silent. Anyone who is remotely familiar with Workout Levels V2 (which I’m now assuming is like Doom 4) will indeed wonder if this release is actually coming.
Being in the software industry and on the outside looking in, this looks like one of those “big bang” release approaches - relatively easy to “plan“, often lots of scope creep and painful to actually deliver.
I hope the devs are doing okay - these kind of projects are never fun at the end.
Ahh. I’ve just had a diagnosis of a herniated disc. Means I’m going to be out of action about 8weeks due to surgery and rehab. I guess and hope there’s a chance it’s ready when I’m able to train again.
I had that back in 2023. I’m sure I can dig up my exact timeline if you’re interested. I was definitely lightly spinning on the trainer at roughly 4 weeks (supported upright).
Yes, got 2 weeks to wait until the surgery, he said 6 weeks before proper exercise, so I guess as you say light spin 4-5 weeks might be ok. Also need to have physio as well.
I also had one of these. I was walking in 2 weeks and with no pain from that was ok to hope on the bile - gentle at first. All the advise I got was to listen to the body and take it easy slowly ramping things up.
I’m not in the beta program, so was a bit surprised when I saw this.. The new AI FTP detect drop my ftp by 8% and then turn up the level.. så previous vo2max was level 3.4 which I marked as hard, now with the lower ftp, it is turned up to level 6.. Beside the ftp drop I’m excited to try out the new AI planning
