TrainerRoad + ROUVY Integration is now available

You can now do your TrainerRoad workouts in ROUVY!

Connect the two accounts and today’s TrainerRoad cycling workout gets pushed to ROUVY, ready to ride on the route of your choice. When you finish, the ride syncs back to TrainerRoad for TrainerRoad AI’s analysis, the same as any other ride.

What You Need
An active TrainerRoad subscription, an active ROUVY subscription, and the latest version of the ROUVY app on whatever device you use for training.

How to Connect
You set this up on the TrainerRoad website.

  1. Go to Account > Connections > Training Platforms

  2. Select Connect under ROUVY

  3. Read the connection terms and select Agree & Connect

  4. Select Authorize on ROUVY’s authorization page. If you are not already logged in to ROUVY, you will be prompted to log in first.

That brings you back to Training Platforms. A green border and a Disconnect link on the ROUVY card mean you are set.

What Gets Sent to ROUVY

  • On a plan: your indoor workout scheduled for today, pushed the day of.

  • Not on a plan: your recommended workout of the day, waiting when you open the app.

  • On a plan with a rest day scheduled: nothing, by design.

Workouts show up almost as soon as they are on your calendar, and drop off ROUVY if you remove them. Once one has synced, a ROUVY icon appears in that workout’s footer on your TrainerRoad calendar.

Not sent: runs, outside workouts, Ramp Tests and FTP tests, group rides, and other non-structured calendar items.

Doing TrainerRoad Workouts in ROUVY
Today’s workout sits near the top of the ROUVY Home screen and at the top of the Workouts tab.

Click it and you get a preview where you pick which route you want to ride it on.

Hit Start Workout and pedal.

Workouts default to ERG. Turn ERG off and you get a steady resistance mode that ignores terrain, so the road ahead will not change your targets either way. Drafting does not affect them either.

On FTP: your power targets always come from your TrainerRoad FTP, so the workout is calibrated correctly out of the gate. ROUVY’s in-app FTP is separate, and it only drives the color-coding of the workout blocks on screen. Worth matching it manually if you want the colors to read right, but it will not change what you ride.

After The Ride
Your ROUVY ride ends automatically when the structured workout is done. You will get a survey asking how hard it felt, 1 being easy and 10 being everything you had.

You can also answer or change it later in TrainerRoad.

The ride syncs back within a few minutes and is fully analyzed by TrainerRoad AI.
If you want it in Strava, turn on third-party syncing in ROUVY. It shows up there as “ROUVY - [workout name]”.

How Is It Different/Similar to the Zwift Integration?
Mostly the same, with a few differences worth knowing:

  • The activity ends when the structured workout ends. You cannot extend the warmup or cooldown, and you cannot keep riding in the same activity. Start a new ROUVY activity if you want more time.

  • Intensity adjustments are capped at 150% of the original target. Above that, drop out of ERG and shift.

  • Completed rides show the map and elevation in TrainerRoad rather than the usual workout profile. Click the workout name in the TrainerRoad Workout box to see the original workout details.

Only ROUVY needs to be running. You do not need the TrainerRoad app open, or installed at all.

This is awesome news! I’ve been keen to give Rouvy a try and this what was holding me back.

Have been hoping for this for a while. Did my first TR workout on ROUVY today and it worked great. It was a VO2 workout and I was ripping through a little hike/bike trail at an extremely irresponsible pace lol

  1. Will the scheduled TR work-out simultaneously show in Zwift, too? Or do I have to choose a particular platform?
  2. The issue about the Rouvy route terminating when the TR workout concludes is problematic, in my view. I often want to spin down for a few extra minutes and I think it could be a nuisance to have to launch a new ride merely to cruise at 100 watts for 5 minutes (IMO).
  3. Finally, I love TrainerRoad.

Thanks guys!

If you have both platforms connected, we’ll send the workout to both.

Awesome, my trainer came with a 2 month trial, now I can use it.

That’s just a Rouvy thing. I doubt TR can do anything to change that.

I bought Rouvy just to try this integration. First ride was awesome, I’m hooked!

However, when I went for my second ride, it wouldn’t let me change the location and I seem to be stuck with South Africa. Anyone else having this problem or is this user error?

update: What I’ve noticed is that I’ll click on the Trainer road workout and then when I click on the change button and select a new route and come back, it doesn’t change. But if I exit go to a different area within the app and then come back, the map now changes…

I don’t think we’ve had this reported yet..

We’ll let ROUVY know about this. :+1:

Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Hi

Changing routes has been fine in the testing. I’m not sure what is going on here but I’v been changing routes for most of my rides of TR workouts on Rouvy.

It happened to me literally the very first time I used Rouvy, and force quitting the app on my iPad fixed it. It hasn’t happened again. You can also try changing the route and starting the workout in the companion app if that doesn’t work.

TR made Rouvy’s latest YouTube advertisement, which also featured ex-GCN presenters Manon and Hank, and looks like it was filmed at Hank’s mansion in the Cotswolds, UK.

Rouvy has consistently good updates. Along with the TR integration the enhanced videos in this update are nice
