TrainerRoad CEO Communication

Meh, you called it false and misleading advertisement which is far from being the case.
Also as you repeatedly stated it’s not like they don’t mention the fact that it’s a closed beta for now. It’s super transparent in the article and also the second email. Far from being inconsistent.

We have some people here on the forum who are quite vocal about everything that ruffles their feathers. That doesn’t imply that it’s justified. The vast majority apparently thinks different. Quite clear thanks to the poll.

Perhaps for some it would be worth to take a step back and ask themselves why it’s always them who end up complaining. :joy::sweat_smile:

See my edit. Tell me whose email sends a message closer to the reality of this feature release.

Also: if the attitude should basically be screw everybody…they can cry if they want to…why bother sending these emails in the first place? Save the effort and money and just do nothing. But I get the impression trainerroad wants to be early, open AND clear about their releases. This is a way to do that.

I can only repeat myself.

The first email (the one you linked) lists multiple references to blog posts on various topics. One being AT. If you follow the link to AT you will get all the information including a link to sign-up for priority access. Though if you stop at the headline/thumbnail you will miss that information. Not sure that’s a reason to complain though.

The second email was about priority access. For what it’s worth, priority does not mean instant.

So yeah, more reading and less outrage.

Is a blog post the same medium as an email?

If the goal is consistent messaging, why would you convey a message requiring two completely different mediums to convey a single message? It’s a silly thing to do if you are trying to be clear and convey information in a straightforward manner.

The issue at hand is not whether any of us have a right to be ‘outraged’ as you put it. The issue at hand is what is the best way for trainerroad to convey new release information. Which they ACTIVELY ASKED FOR by creating this thread.

Again, the email makes you aware of multiple new blog posts and not just AT. You can then pick what’s of interest for you and read up on it.
For what it’s worth, I rather get one email with all new blog posts and then pick what’s of interest for me rather than getting 20 emails on 20 different topics. :man_shrugging:t3:

Teasing new stuff is a nice thing.
But I would also like to see more concrete roadmap…
for example…
If you guys are working on the run/swim imports, thats something that MANY users want and have been asking for many years. This is a feature that has been said its on the works or at least on the roadmap for the future, but no one but TR developers know when will that happen…

My point, maybe telling something like…
We are working on x, y, z user’s requests would be a nice…

I am not talking about release timeframes. But at a general description of high level features that will be added within the next 12-18 months.

So, you are taking the stance that sending an email about a single subject, with misleading information about that subject, but mentioning a second medium also giving information that may or may not supercede the information in the email you’re already reading, is a more clear method of communicating than just saying what you mean in the initial email??

I’ll let @anon13702412 respond for him/her self. but for me the digest concept is much better for managing my inbox than a whole flock of individual emails. There are tons of feeds I get that use that technology so there must be some standard approaches that would not require TR to build something themselves. Many allow me to choose if I want a daily, weekly or monthly feed.

Now the whole topic of content and what TR is saying is independent of the method of communicating.

I am saying that getting a email on multiple new blog posts makes more sense than getting a new email on every single new blog post. Like @Hampstenfan hs also said.

Also getting an email on where to specifically sign up for those eager to be among the first to try it out is good proactive communication.

By no means it’s misleading or false advertisement. Neither is it inconsistent.

Also I am saying is that it is your fault for only reading they headline and thumbnail. You should have read the advertised article which would have given you all information available.

So no reason for the outrage. Though I guess that’s how the internet today works. Everything is an outrage. :man_shrugging:t3:

Just had a quick look and can’t see a road map on the main part of website.

I think it’d be worth adding a section looking forward to the future. What new features are you looking to bring to the table and in what priority and over what rough timescales? Obviously the further out something is in timescales the vaguer it’ll have to be.

A brief history of when features were added would also give an idea, for those reading, of your track record in delivery. How your offer is evolving.

You’ve got your existing customer base. Plus potential new customers who will be looking not just for what you get now, but what’s coming along.

It’s that difficult balancing act of under promising and over delivering.

Relax with the outrage. I’m perfectly calm. Trainerroad asked for advice, I’m giving it.

Look, you have to ask, what was the goal of the email with the subject “Introducing Adaptive Training?” Am I just goofy, and completely missed the goal of what were they trying to do? Was this email REALLY just an advertisement to get people to read their blog, independent of adaptive training? I dont believe that. I dont believe YOU believe that either.

Which means the goal was to advertise adaptive training. And they did not communicate the status of that feature very clearly. That’s not to say I or other tr customers have a right to lose their minds. It’s just to say the email was crappy, and could have been better. That’s it. And making it better would make a lot of the pissy goofballs like me go away and get out of their hair lol

100% true.
A problem? No. And both of you agree.
Funny enough you are still quarreling

Lol. Yea. I am starting to feel like my morning is starting…“two pedantists walk into a bar…”

And one of them hits their head…

DUCK!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Duck or Grouse as we say in the UK.

And now that I’ve gone back and looked at the email I received Mar 2, TR is indeed doing the digest thing.

I also am holding tightly onto my “Your on the Adaptive Training list” email time stamped Feb 25, 10:47 AM. I wonder where that puts me in the queue - Oh, wait, I think there’s a different thread on that :sunglasses:

I am as relaxed as can be. Though in my world accusing somebody of misleading and false advertisement is the polar opposite of giving advice. :v:t2:

That email as any other email from them is advertisement. Though that’s not the question here. Hint, you claim false and misleading advertisement because you got an email with references to several blog posts and YouTube videos. :joy:

And low volume, and wpkg, and also their YouTube channel. Neither matter was covered in detail by the mail. For that you have to click on those big red buttons. They are labeled „read post“ and lead to and article which has all the relevant information waiting for you. Ikr super sweet stuff!

You’ll note I did not say “intentionally” false and misleading. I think the issue was lack of care in the mailer, not malice or even greed.

Words matter :+1:

Guess my definition of “Now” is different from others.
