TR Classic mode?

For those unhappy with TR AI, could a TR classic mode become an option in the future?

I get that bifurcating your software development can be costly, both in technical debt and if you’re choosing to develop both branches, but maybe it can solve a lot of the ongoing CX issues with the beta?

I’ve learned to adjust my expectations, i.e. doing roughly similar work, I know now that +8% FTP/month is unrealistic given the time I’m putting in, but my biggest complaint is how boring and tedious it has started to feel. I’d rather have the old methodology where I’m exposed to a much wider variety of workouts versus the same handful that are available in the middle of each PL.

It’ll also lower your AI token cost significantly for those who would still rather pay for the “old” algorithm.

Thoughts?

I’d like a version of this as well. Maybe not full on classic, but the version before the current iteration of TR AI.

Specifically, I’d like to an option to remove the AI simulation window as I just don’t like how it clutters up the calendar. The whole online experience used to be so clean looking. As for FTP detection I definitely preferred the previous version where we got a notification every 30 or so days and it gave us a new ftp. I find the prediction far too sensitive and its constant changes are more of a distraction than a benefit.

I’m very happy with the workouts I get assigned and the progression of workouts over time is great. Just feel like some of these other new features over complicated the product

I’m boring though. Just give me good workouts and progression that makes sense and I’m good.

I understand why they aren’t doing this though. They’d rather force everyone to be in the model to make the model better. Which clearly it needs to be.

Run the experiment on those that want to be experimented on. Call it Alpha\Beta and a proper Opt in.

AI experience is a distraction - at least let a user hide it from the calendar/homepage.

+1, although it’s clearly unrealistic. It’s nice to dream of this though

+1, but for me it’s getting better workouts and not so much the visuals. I even learned to live with the prediction and take advantage of it (to get confirmation that my self-selected workouts are better suited than the TR selected).

What is stopping you from doing this now? You don’t need a “Classic mode”, you can disable the AI features (selectively or all). If you keep enough of them enabled, TR could help you select workouts if you give them the workout type. But you can simply schedule a workout of your choice right now.

Disabling the AI features doesn’t change the suggested workouts, does it?

Sure, I can substitute in my own workouts at will, but you can also get that too at one of many places, for free. There was value in having a plan created w/ progressive PLs, tailored to your chosen discipline. THAT was the value proposition IMO.

Now that you can’t seem to get a progressive overload if you step foot outside…seems like that would be a good fallback to what was a known, working solution. This wouldn’t be an overhaul of everything, just a substitution of the output of the black box using the prior, “non-adapted” workout calendar generator.

When you disable all of them? Yes.

But you can selectively disable some that you find don’t work for you and keep others enabled. You could e. g. disable AI FTP and set your FTP manually. You could then add workout types of your choosing (e. g. over-unders) and AI FTP will select them for you. You can override the suggestion by picking a harder or easier workout. The new system has a lot more flexibility, I find.
