Alaphilippe is just coming back from a bad crash so I’m not at all surprised to see him staying at home this year (as much as I love watching his flair for racing)
Senechal is a surprise for me. A strong rider and clearly in form. Leaving the French national champion at home for the Tour?! I don’t think Madiot would have done that!
I’d have loved to see Cav ride. I know it’s been flagged that he won’t be there for about a year now. But he’s done everything he could do to get there and demonstrated that with his masterclass at the national champs.

The whole race will be a farce. Jakobsen got so much pressure so he is not able win stages. Crashes takes out GC favorites and somehow Nairo Quintana wins tour de france.

Declercq COVID positive. Sénéchal in (not Cav). The Tour hasn’t started and the drama has already begun. (Sure, Sénéchal is the better replacement for Jakobsen’s benefit, but the Cav fans will go nuts and the French will rejoice)

He just ran out of time to come back from the crash.

Cav gets his 35th win and breaks the record. Hours after the stage finish the organisers realise that QS AVT have entered 9 riders and get thrown out of the race.

What does Pidcock bring to the Ineos squad? I would prefer to see Hayter with his fast finish.

Hayter was in the provisional squad, but he would
- only be fighting for the Classic style stages,
- no use in the mountains
- is not comfortable riding up in the group or fighting for position, prefers to ride at the back a bit like Yates but at least Yates can move himself up.
