Tour de France 2019

Jesus Christ, the televised tour is more like watching the “tour de commercials”. It’s aggravating. Am I the only one irritated by this?

That’s why I gave up on NBC. It’s maddening. Now I’m watching the French feed (with a VPN). They have Laurent Jalabert commentating and Thomas Voeckler on a motorcycle following the race!

I can only watch if it’s recorded on my DVR. No way I’d try to watch live with all those ads and other things that I fast-forward through.

I know nothing about international TV/streaming so this might be completely useless but, have you tried connecting to the itv channel 4 hub? That’s how I watch it online whilst at work.

Extremely considerate of people to be hiding any potential spoilers but is it really necessary? I kind of take the view that anybody who goes to a cycling forum and opens a thread called “Tour de France 2019” doesn’t have much right to complain if they find spoilers in there!

Depends whether somebody is watching the thread: the summary email might reveal any names…

Ah, hadn’t come across that feature.

I am using the Skoda tour tracker it has to Robbie Macewan commentating and no adds. Not sure if it works internationally but a VPN might get you there

NBC Sports Gold offers streaming of two feeds:

  • ad-free
  • NBC Sports show with ad

The NBC Sports show is the same one as carried on cable and streaming services (e.g. Hulu TV, Playstation Vue, etc), the one with Phil Liggett, Bob Roll, Christian V, Jens Voigt, etc.

the new virtual reality thingy on NBC Sports show is pretty cool, yesterday they explained the time gap rule.

if you haven’t seen Lexus Virtual Tour this year on NBC Sports its pretty cool:

Christian and Chris can move the riders by waving hands over the screen, like Tom Cruise’s character did in Minority Report.

Agreed, though, I have to admit that I still don’t understand how time gaps work ;).

Also, did anyone see Alaphilippe’s brief diversion off course today (Stage 5) through the median on grass to break to the front of the peloton? I can’t remember where exactly that was… somewhere with about 45m or so to go. I wonder if he’ll get a penalty for that?

pull up the Stage 4 NBCSports replay and scrub to 2:53:01 and watch again (virtual explanation a minute later at 2:54:01)!

Hard same. It’s the best way to watch in the U.S. Keenan and McEwen are just straight up funny and entertaining day and day out.

It also is one of the most motivating things to watch during TR workouts imo. I feel I can just focus on the intervals while being fully absorbed by the race.

Thanks. Is it free in Aus? I.e. If I use VPN or DNS to give myself an Aussie location, I should then be able to stream without paying a subscription?

Currently overseas and have been streaming the ITV4 coverage from UK via a VPN, that also works quite well and doesn’t require a subscription.

Yes it’s free in Australia

Just catching up on some details ahead of todays (hopefully) exciting stage.

I have to say, for guys who spend half their life wearing a helmet, there’s some strong hair game here.

Been enjoying Adam Blythe’s voluminous hair - and his bright shirts - on Eurosport. What’s with those ski goggles Sagan wears on the podium?

Making that sweet, sweet endorsement/sponsorship money.

Ah, it’s only just clicked that’s what the massive 100% logo was for
