Timing of Adaptive Training Workout Updates

Could Adaptive Training update future workouts in my calendar closer to when it assess results of training and out-of-plan activities (bike commute, strength workout, etc.), rather than waiting till Monday morning?

I feel like this is a minor feature question / request but I‘ve been thinking about it for a while so figured I’d see if others notice or understand a setting that I don’t.

I use Adaptive Training and have it set to “Automatically Accept Adaptations.” I’ve noticed that the workouts in my plan don’t seem to update until Monday morning. This morning it dropped the Workout Levels for my week by about 1.0 or more (except maybe the last workout of the week). This feels like a big change in workout level for me, and for the difference in workout levels, it seems like Adaptive Training might’ve seen this coming a little earlier. I was looking around a bit to see if its possible to have the planned workouts update in a more ongoing way, but couldn’t find anything.

This is only important to me because I like to check my scheduled workouts often (I’ll admit, probably too often!) and see how my completed workouts and out-of-plan activities affect what I’m doing. Also, while I like that TR will give you a productive workout for you at the moment you need it / request it, I would like to see how my current workout results and other fatigue affects my future potential progression–if that makes sense.

Is your ask timing of update or rationale for the update?

My request is primarily about the timing of the update, especially if there is something I’m just missing in the settings.

The rationale is interesting too though.

My plan seems to update every day. Sometimes nothing changes, but there doesn’t seem to be any specific day on which it updates. Might not happen at all in a week, might happen 3 or 4 times, depending how I rate my workouts.

Are you looking for adaptations on the app or the web?

I’d be curious to see what you find if you check the app first and then the web for a few days. I’ve seen some issues with other athletes’ devices not syncing in a super timely fashion, but this is usually not the case of multiple days.

The web is always the source of truth, so try checking there in conjunction with the app a couple of time so that we can rule out app syncing as an issue.

If that’s not the case, I wonder if this could be an issue with auto-accepting adaptations.

Let me know what you find on your end and I’ll do some more digging when I hear back from you.

Thank you for listing these possibilities! I do check mostly on the app. I checked on both the app and the desktop after my workout yesterday and it did update my next workout! I must have been confused. I feel a little like I called IT and then my issue was fixed by a reboot with this post, but the detail is at least helpful. :man_facepalming:

That’s helpful to know the web is the source of truth.

Regarding auto-accepting adaptations - I have that box checked but it did show me the adaptation on the web and gave me the choice of accepting it before it applied it. That’s helpful in that I got to see how it changed my workout, but I am generally trying to let Adaptive Training guide all bike workout decisions right now.

How many times a day does AI check for adaptions? Yesterday, I opened the app 3 times with no adaptions, then on the 4th time when I went to do the workout, it tried to change it.

There isn’t a specific number of times that we run a check for adaptations. It’s usually triggered on the athlete’s end.

If you’re reloading your career/calendar multiple times with no activities between and only getting adaptations once, there could be and issue somewhere.. :eyes:
