The Sufferfest Increases Their Subscription Prices

Glad I grandfathered into TR @$99. I do a little Zwift for fun at $15+tax/mth for some of the year, and could see doing SF like that too, but really, as they increase prices, I’ll end up with TR and something like NBC Gold to have cycling to watch. No way I’ll do TR, Zwift + SF … $50/mth and I have to provide my own equipment …

A long time ago I purchased the sufferfest videos and downloaded them, my wife uses them and loves them on an old Trainer. I use TR and am locked in at a fixed price.

Which corporation purchased sufferfest?

There are a few called down dog, which one are you using?

Do a “knighthood”: you get a discount. I didn’t expect it when I got it. Suspect it’s only one year, but I’m still on mine.

I have a few of the old sufferfest videos downloaded and good to watch sometimes to pass the time whilst doing a TR workout but never would subscribe to it.

Their 4DP test definitely improved things for me, maybe because I’m rubbish at sprints, but it’s hardly a new concept.

Variable power:duration is hardly a revolutionary concept though. Just nice how it gives you a realistic target for you. I would kill myself sprinting within intervals and make it too hard. Given how unrevolutionary the concept is I’d be surprised if they had a patent and I’d like TR to do something similar.

The free software Golden Cheetah does a curve and can download from Strava. Best budget option at the moment. I used it for live indoor training for years: you can design workouts based on books/articles.

Not just online, also a great LBS! I live a couple of miles down the road from them, good guys.

Sorry, totally off topic…

Just thought I’d point out that Sufferfest states that they are raising prices on Feb 1, 2020.

I looked at pricing today, Jan22, 2020 and it already shows the new increased price

This is super shady…

Super shady, really? You get two weeks for free so by the time you pay it will be $14.99/mo. Better to tell people now rather than post $12.99 and have it go up during someone’s free period.

It’s $10.75/mo. if you sign up for a year.

You get the 2 weeks free regardless right?
That’s how most trials have worked in the past. Zwift, Trainerroad, Fulgaz, etc. have all had trials before you buy, and then you are locked in at the rate when you signed up for the trial.
So yes, it is shady because you are telling people that the price increases on X date, and then actually increasing it before that date, and masking it behind a “free trial”

My billing is due to cycle on 29th Jan. I’ve switched from monthly to annual and my billing price is showing as $99.99/

Trainerroad was the first trainer software I used started in 2014. I’ve played around with sufferfest, rouvy, perf pro, zwift, etc. Trainerroad has always come out on top due to it’s extensive workout libraries/plans and more polished/efficient interface. I love how well it works on my iPhone. Maybe, just maybe, if I switched to a less structured training I might just go with Zwift and do a race, a group ride or two there each week. Perf Pro is the only other one I’ve kept. One time payment and I prefer their workout creator.

Been using Sufferfest for a few years on annual subscription and like it, however I won’t be renewing in March on the basis they are not supporting there long term customers by not grandfathering prices, also still no Android app. TrainerRoad offers everything i need.
