I’m absolutely not saying that researchers shouldn’t have access or that important questions can’t be answered by using the TR dataset. I’m a PhD student using administrative data so am well aware of the limitations and strengths of this type of work.
However, confounding must be taken into consideration and isn’t any less of an issue in a large sample which was the assertion I was responding to.
