The Bell curve of cylists - how fast are the average TR users?

This curve does not look like a regular bell curve definitely skewed to the right, if we had the data the calculation would show this to be true, but it would be expected as the type A athletes that use this training are trying to progress to the right. it would be better to to see the progression of these participants from the first FTP test to a year later the change in performance would give a better understanding of the curve as you would all know this is a snap shot of an instant point in a fluid world and changes happen every day. As Nate and Chad admit often if the plans/workouts are to taxing the completion drops of and thus the same for the long term usage which would also make for an interesting topic and i think this is the main reason SSB is so popular are hard work out makes you feel good soon after ready for another in a couple of days where something like periodisation takes much longer to eventuate in an improvement the non compliance will be much higher.
Long live SWEET SPOT BASE!

Whoa, your wife had a stroke??? That just blew my mind a little. I did not know that.

Intervals.icu now has these Coggan style charts for different age groups calculated from Intervals.icu data. Histograms coming soon!

Oh my.

@davidtinker do you think it’s possible at some later stage to do also a variant with only raw watts for those durations and then their corresponding population percentages?

Looks like a win the sample for 5s power in my age group  and MILES off in the 20m pwor recently

Is there a way to switch it back to the old style Cat 1/2/3 etc chart?

Yes I am going to put those back soon. Just trying to cut scope to get this done finally.

Definitely and soon. I have all the data, just wanted to get the first w/kg version out the door.

I am going to be displaying histograms soon which will help. However unless I have a bug somewhere those percentiles are real and for 598 athletes.

You’re fast steve. deal with it

I should add that the tables are calculated from everyones power curves for the last 84 days, updated daily.

That’s really cool! Do you plan on eventually implementing something like the PD curve profiling and phenotypes in WKO4?

still a small group, but matches up with Xert’s rankings – again, nice job David!

any way to edit out power spikes? that 5sec power from last year is due to a day when the battery failed and did some dumb stuff before giving up the ghost…

Everyone above me is superfast

And then there’s me. Purely indoor TR workouts since October. :joy:

Same, I’m hoping it’s only the really committed that sign up to Intervals, otherwise I should be expecting grannies on hybrids to pass me on tomorrow’s commute

Paraphrasing coach Chad “you are like me…but fast”

This is very depressing topic!

Hahaha!

I just signed up to intervals.icu strictly for the ego boost :joy:

Yes could do. I will have to do some research to find out how those work. I haven’t used WKO4 myself.

You need to find that activity and manually edit those power points (easy for a 5s spike) or use the automatic spike detection to fix.

The power spike detection is why Intervals.icu can do these charts. Most power spikes are going to be trapped.

The tables are built using everyones power curve for the last 84 days and all comparisons are against that.
