Tarmac SL7 Release date

I like both. Every time I switch from one to the other I look back at my bike and think “Damn, that’s pretty tight.”

I see it already been comments - but your Varia radar mount is upside down

Sweet bike!!! don’t want you to chip the paint with the radar if you were to hit a bump

I don’t think the Varia is mounted upside down but it might have better range if it wasn’t pointing at the ground.

the mount is upside down - not the Varia - if they flip the mount on the seatpost around - it will be pointed like your picture

you are right - since switched around - all in the excitement to get out and ride (I do like the Varia)

biggest issue I had was that was so excited to ride that didn’t check di2 charge after collecting from LBS on Monday and got home with 5%

Just went to the bike shop, which both have two size 54 Sworks SL7s displayed: the red one with Di2 and green with AXS.

We weighted both, the red one with Di2 was 6.95kg no pedals, no bottle cages. The green one with AXS was 7.1kg with no bottle cages.

I am guessing the weight difference is really big between the black matte (unpainted) one with Di2 vs the ones painted, as they stated that it was 6.7kg.

That seams to be high compared to some other posts I have seen.

It seems in line with someone upthread whose 52 was 7.2kg with pedals and cages. Fancy paint, integrated cables, discs and deep wheels all add up. These aren’t particularly light bikes.

Not to rain on the op’s parade with the nice new sl7, but I am also not a fan of the gum tires.

Bike is sexy tho, but I’m all about the black tire

Those Rapide wheels are light for depth - tried the bike with my CLX32s today - made the bike look lighter but saved less than 100g (weight with Rapide wheels, pedals and cages is 7.15kg 200g more than my SL6 with CLX50s).

Every time I read the weights on these new super bikes it makes me love my Emonda ALR even more. My 52cm road bicycle is 7.1kg with pedals, cages, wahoo, speed sensor, and power meter.

Given that my bike didn’t really cost all that much and is the same weight as even the S-Works SL7 I wonder if it would be worthwhile to take the weight penalty on a base SL7. I mean would the aero advantages measurably offset the increased weight?

With how much these things cost it would be nice if there was a demo program where one could ride a SL7 for a week or so to see if it’s really any better.

I think it was on the WW forum, but someone posted that their 3rd-party testing of the sl7 at 45 kph (210 watts) had the sl7 2 watts behind the the Venge (208 watts). I think the fastest bike so far has been the system six at ~203 watts. I believe that’s a half-dummy tunnel tests to do 45kph.

Also, someone over there has been talking about setting up the rapide wheels tubeless under the impression that the wheels were originally intended to be TLC. It’s hard to believe they would do a 180 on tubeless vs clincher, but they are purporting to have killed off the venge for now, so…

SL7 is my favourite - luck enough to have 2019 SL6 and Venge - SL6 was my go to with Venge for a bit of fun as complete contrast and this has best of both and is now for special events etc

My bike has finally arrived at my LBS but they’re processing a backlog of builds so it probably won’t be ready until next week. For reference I ordered the silver SL7 Expert in Size 58 on July 14th.

I’ll update with comments and photos once I’ve had a chance to take it out for a spin

I ordered same color in 52 on July 25th in Canada. No word from LBS yet but hope to hear soon.

Wasn’t my first choice in color but it’s growing on me, especially after watching the youtube video posted above. (When I saw the silver Expert in the SL7 launch video next to the white Pro in the dim room, my heart sank. It didn’t look anything like the photo you took in the LBS  which kinda set me on a silver to metallic white fade) Will match the Cybertrucks on the road, I guess.

Still a bit choked that Specialized released a 7k CAD bike with $300 wheels. I guess the $500 price cut from SL6 will pay for cheapo carbon wheels similar to the C38. Basically force my hand to get some Chinese carbon clinchers QQ

Yes, please do. And does anyone else have pictures of the various expert colors in the wild? I don’t love any of them, but it would be nice to see some non specialized website pics. I do love the red of the di2 pro model, not sure if that’s worth extra $2k to me.

I will be testing the silver expert tomorrow. Will try to remember to take pics.
