I dunno whether this got answered but this issue is sorted in .43 and (just released) .45. You get the same flat line in ERG but it bumps up the resistance just a little, and it now averages <1W under target, just like the OG Neo, Neo 2 and Neo 2T.

I tried the smart bike this/last week, and was suuuuuper disappointed. So much that I keep wondering if I did something wrong.

The bike is the new model (purchased 2023). I used with TR in erg mode. My gripe is two fold:

  1. The pedalling feeling is terrible - feels like a cheap gym bike (kind of like the ones with the piece of felt braking the wheel). I think flow weight flywheel?
  2. The fans: I could barely feel them (in a low temperature room). Her USB-rechargeable fan (just slightly bigger than the Garmins) is more powerful than both combined.

The heat, horrible pedalling feeling made me completely demotivated to do anything other than short-ish Z2 workouts. I usually enjoy indoor workouts, have done up to 4h TR. I’ve been on elite Nero rollers for a while, but I feel that my wahoo kickr was much closer to the rollers in terms of feel, than the Garmin Neo bike.

Fan wise, I have 3 carped dryers which is great, but again, the single gym floor fan was adequate, so much better than the fans of the Garmin. I might be spoiled with my setup, but I really want to call those fans a complete joke.

I’ve been using one for a couple years. It’s not ‘perfect’, but it’s pretty damn close, close enough for me.

Yeah, I’ve had a few replaced, and had an issue with getting a NOS (New Old Stock) bike, but for the most part, it’s been a better experience (IMO) than the Wahoo Kickr Bike. I had quite a few of the former replaced. I got really good at stripping it down and boxing it up. (Get advanced exchange so you can still ride (if it’s still rideable) while waiting)

But the Neo Smart Bike is pretty well thought out, I like it. It beats rotting my more expensive Specialized bike out on a Neo 2T.
