Syncing garmin, Training Peaks and TrainerRoad?

I have a Garmin head unit, pedals and HRM.
I have been doing custom profiles in TR, and also it all syncs to Training Peaks (TP).

I noticed that I get a double up when TR sends out the completed ride, and the garmin sends out the completed ride.
So that has two workouts and TP get over worked.

I would just delete the Garmin session at the end, but it has pedal data.
So I delete (don’t save) the TR session by “end workout” early.
Look like it is showing up, but is it contributing to the AI in TR?

Or how should I be doing this?

Make sure you have this 10 inside workout pre-requisite handled. Presumably this is covered by your custom workouts, if you have done them with the TrainerRoad app & workout player.

What AI FTP Detection Needs to Detect Your FTP

In order for AI FTP Detection to have enough data to accurately detect your FTP, you need a minimum of 10 completed TrainerRoad indoor workouts. If you haven’t completed enough workouts, don’t stress—you’ll see how many more you need when you click the button to use the feature. Once you’ve completed these 10 workouts, AI FTP Detection will analyze and incorporate all indoor and outdoor rides with power data, whether or not they’re TrainerRoad workouts.

Will AI FTP Detection consider unstructured outside rides as well?

Yes. AI FTP Detection takes into account all rides with power data, whether they’re indoors or outside, structured or unstructured. This can include group rides, races, and even rides on other indoor training apps synced to TrainerRoad.

  • So, if you are getting these workouts into your TrainerRoad Calendar and they contain power data, these will be included.

If you’re dual recording then you are going to get two workouts in TP. TrainingPeaks sees two files: one from Garmin and TR. It doesn’t know the two are from the same workout/ride. So they both get uploaded.

My recommendation if you keep dual recording is to sever the connection from TrainerRoad to TrainingPeaks. Unless you are pushing planned workouts from TrainingPeaks to TrainerRoad.

This is a common issue. It’s not just you. As mentioned above, keep your Garmin data and your TR data, just remove one of them from sending to TP.
