Sweat test… where to go?

Hello I’m in the DMV area and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get a sweat test done at? I’m trying to prep for summer training.

Don’t waste your money on those, they’re gimmicky and useless; I’ve tried them several times and never got a usable result. Precision Hydration offers tests, but doesn’t look like they have any locations close to the DMV area. Levelen tests are an alternative to the Gatorade patches, but much more expensive.

@DaHump I’m in Manassas and have seen the SMART Lab at GMU’s Freedom Center. I know nothing about it but the site seems geared toward running (eg gait analysis). Might be worth a call, though.

Well I had a the sweat test done and i knew I was a salty sweater. When I received my results it said I lose about 1900mg per hour. I’ve been adding more salt to my water and will see how this helps with my training. Thanks for all the responses.

Just curious, how do you know its pretty good? How do you know what it give you is correct?

You should have different numbers for different conditions. Hot and high humidity is different to cold and low humidity when it comes to sweating. Plus obviously intensity level affect amount you sweat.

I am not a scientist, so I will never know for sure. Having said that, I have not really paid attention to hydration other than drink when I’m thirsty. When I come back from long rides and I’m tired I often wonder if I’m under fueled, dehydrated, or just fatigued. Tools like this can help with insight. I have done some rides where it shows my dehydration low almost out of the gate to now I am much more conscience of getting some liquids in before the ride. On hot, humid rides on my trainer I would often get in about a bottle an hour. With this sensor if often indicates a bottle every 35-45 minutes would be better. Anyway, I am still learning with it, but glad I purchased the hDrop.
