Stupid crazy question: TR workout on a Gym Bike?

It’s actually been working quite well. I have this gym for two weeks, one 15mm wrench and one hex wrench. Takes me 3 min. Pedals are no big deal to carry and I enjoy it way more than using sneakers and flat pedals.

If you are really lucky, you might stay at a hotel with a good gym bike. That happened to me only once, though. Power measurement seemed accurate and it even had a catalog of workouts.

A lot of gym hotels now seem to only have Recumbent bikes. Go figure.

Yeah, and many hotel gyms are pretty meh. This one, though, was amazing. It had a pretty nice weight rack, a rowing machine and a regular treadmill from the same maker as the gym bike (read: very nice stuff). And it even had a type of treadmill I hadn’t seen before, a curved treadmill (not sure if this is the right term, I wouldn’t know it any of the languages I speak). It had inertia like rollers and you could add resistance to your liking. Again, a high-end unit.

But probably, this hotel was an outlier: it was rather expensive (about 3x what I’d usually pay, but it was among the cheapest hotels in Amsterdam with rooms available).

Have so far not had the courage to mount power pedals on a gym bike. Mostly concerned about not being able to unmount them, there are some hilarious stories on the forum of pedals getting stuck after mounting them (+ volume of extra shoes in carry on luggage).
But the bigger issue is absence of a fan. Without that higher intensity rides are simply not feasible for me and power is less relevant. As I am traveling to the same location regularly, I recently decided to purchase a Ryobi battery operated fan and leave it there (the battery pack cannot go on a plane). Massive difference in experience. Still searching for a small fan that can be packed as carry on luggage, suggestions are welcome.

Experimented with the HR2VP app that converts heart rate to power, not the best experience. Bought an old Powertap/Powercal HR strap on eBay recently that also converts HR to power, still experimenting with that.

So I was in a mining town in Montana for two weeks. First gym I went to I noticed you couldn’t access the back of the crank to use a hex wrench to get power pedals off. I went to a second gym that had more of a traditional spin bike. This was perfect. In terms of the fan. I wheeled the bike from the bike room to their cardio room and placed it directly in front of their biggest fan. Man I was freezing in front of it. Better than my home set up.

The space wasn’t an issue, pedal in each show, 15mm wrench, 8mm hex wrench and I was done.

:+1: same at our gym

Notice the placement of the bike in proximity to the stair stepper for food and water bottles. lol

“Please do not move the fan”, but go ahead and rearrange all the fitness equipment… :joy::joy:
