Step Average Power replaced with 3sec Power Range as workout target? Garmin 530

Super frustrated by this…

For the workout target I’m no longer seeing the step average power as the target on my outdoor workout screens on an Edge 530. It displays 3sec power range…which, of course I’m trying to stay within…

Any workarounds? I checked with another TR user & he’s reporting the same thing this week…

I did a ride today everything was the same on my 530…interesting how it disappeared. Have you tried to include step average again in the data field?

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, I sure did… I thought I was going crazy. I went to workouts & selected ‘Target’. This is the second workout this week where it’s showing this.

Is Lap Average Power an option to pick from?

Under Power I have ‘Lap Power’ & ‘Avg Power’…

What’s frustrating is that this is new…only changed in the last week. Previously Target was just as it’s always been…Step Avg Power.

Lap Power should do the trick.

On one of my data fields I use lap average instead of step average works great.

Doh! So, I just realized something… It looks like a bug with just that particular workout ‘Beech’.

I had it twice this week & both times the target was the 3s power range. I just pushed a different workout to my Garmin & it’s back to Step Avg Pwr..

I installed this data field from Garmin IQ (Target Power Range).

It sounds like we’re working on moving all workouts to display 3s avg power by default in place of lap/step avg power, but you can set up other data fields however you’d like. :+1:

Gotcha…That’s different than what my Garmin was displaying correct?

Mine was just showing 3sec power, no averaging… A friend of mine mentioned watching 3sec Avg & preferred that over step average.

Yeah, Beech is one of the workouts that we’ve switched over, so that’s why you’re seeing 3-second power there.

Eventually, they’ll all show 3-second power by default.
