Specialized Epic 9

When you click on the landing page for the epic on probikesupply its called the all new epic. Gotta be coming out soon

Lightening your wallet further increases performance gains.

Epic Evo v7.3 but twice as expensive.

I’d say they went a little too much on the description  “game changer”, “re-defining”

Send the YT link, it must be in your web history. Maybe it’ll show up in the Internet Archive wayback machine.

Looking forward to buying a half price Epic 8 soon.

If you can find one

I watched it on the yt app. How would I do that?

Sea Otter? Ethire that or the 1st World cup. Would be cool if they did like last year. Just domminate the world cup. Go 1, 2,3 and the next day be like “oh yeah, and now you can buy the bike we used to crush everyone with”. Seems like good marketing to me. But the agian I am just some guy on a online forum.

If the bike is a 29er (most likely), I wonder if there was a big push to get it out sooner to still have a decent model run in the event 32” tires take over so they can do the Epic 10.

If they spent a lot of R&D on the epic 9 it’d make sense to get it out ASAP so it could have 18-24 months before it’s potentially outdated by the new wheel size.

Assuming a new epic is true..

If that’s the case it’s hardly a game changer or re-defining bike since nobody pointed to any difference any at of the pro bikes

That makes sense “to not miss the boat on 29er”

Yeah, I think the real game changer will come with the next version (32er). Waiting patiently for that because I don’t want to buy a bike that may very quickly be considered obsolete by half the used buying market I would need to offload it on.

At this point, I think it’s a pretty safe bet that it’s coming in the next month or so. I agree that a 29er is more likely, but it wouldn’t totally shock me to see a 32. The comments on it being super light (if those are legit) don’t exactly align with 32 though. But how much lighter could they make the frame for a 28er? Unless it is launching with some fundamentally new/lightweight components, I can’t see them shaving too much from the epic 8. Maybe nix the swat storage and save a few grams? Nix the axs dropper or dropper altogether (could be significant)? But still struggling to see much more than a pound unless the fork/shock are much lighter. Or maybe it’s being launched with the new super light 13 speed SRAM MTB groupset.

My guess is after they got caught out with the E8 released and had to dump EE7’s for 1/2 price, and the tariff mess, the US stocks are so low that they hardly have to discount E8’s to clear them (especially if the E9 is more expensive).

I noticed in other markets, like Taiwan, the E8’s are being properly cleared out. I thought my rough math was a comp is around $US3100, an Expert Di2 is $US5100 etc.

No conversion needed… those are the new Epic 9 prices.

Maybe we will all be positively surprised

I’m going to hold off and wait for the Epic 9¾. I hear it’s gonna be magical.

I was in Santa Cruz this past week. Went to my brothers house. He was cleaning his chain and rear sprocket. Mentioned tires were a bit worn. Said something about waiting for the new 32” tires. Didn’t think much about it at the time. But he does get all his bikes from a friend that is a long time Specialized designer. So maybe ……..
