Yes, I can do a bunch of Z2 as long as I don’t try to do more on top of it. Say 4-5 days a week and recover. I was thinking if folks are planning to add Z2 on top of 2-3 “hard” days already programmed they should build into it.
In the “base” block, I went back and forth between LT1 from the lactate test and 85-90% of MLSS. Seemed to work pretty well. Then added a day of VO2 on top and started to feel the fatigue building.
Definitely something to test and find where your individual “recovery-needed” point is.
We’re starting a couple of new podcasts. One of them will be focused on athlete stories on what they did to get a “win”. We plan on interviewing all types of people in different situations and learning how they manage training, what they did, what challenges they had, and how they overcame them.
This of this as an expansion of our athlete interview stories (some of the popular old ones were Justin Rossi, Liz Lyses, Pete Morris and Clif, and Amber before she joined the company).
We’ll make sure we hit different genders, age groups, and backgrounds. Not all 30-year-old superstar men that seem to dominate cycling stories in general.
Yes I know I definitely need to build into it. Went through long rides last year but really only did one TR Vo2 workout each week. Built up from May to August but wore myself out In September. This year I know I need more structure then just one VO2 workout.
My goal is to enjoy myself this summer, build up the time on the bike and transition into more of a mid volume plan in the fall.
