Spot On @mulvers. He is an Airedale yes. He’s not our first so we’re somewhat prepared for what lies ahead ![]()
Holy thread revival!
I finally got up the courage to take a few test rides with my Cardigan Corgi (not a Pembroke!). I wore flat shoes so I could easily dismount if he shifted around (which in the end wasn’t necessary) and pedaled carefully around the neighborhood. I also rode the ‘trash bike’ in case of a disaster.
TL;DR : Adding a 40-pound sack of fur to a 138-pound rider absolutely changes the RPE !
This weekend when the roads are empty, I’ll try a 20-mile loop on the outskirts of town.
Shouldn’t you update your forum name to “Corgi_Racing”? ![]()
Sadly, my JRT has long since crossed the rainbow bridge.
I’m sorry to hear!!
Seeing the pics with your dog on your back absolutely made my day though!!!
Maybe @Jonathan was right… rollers are the way to train ! ![]()
Not sure if I’ve posted my dogs here or not.
So, maybe here goes again. A pic from last summer.
Almost 8 year old litter mates. Lab GSD mix.
Delilah the girl on the left and Basil the boy on the right.
Sadly, we just found out Basil has metastatic anal gland cancer and maybe only two or three months left with us.
Here’s Elmo (Beagle/Collie) and Ollie (Saluki/Lurcher)
this is/was Tig (English Spaniel) - found him dumped in a local forest where Elmo & myself were mountainbiking, he was really old & sick but he hung on for a great 3 months with us before it was time for him to say goodbye
Well, the time came and we had to put Basil down Monday.
Cancer got him at only 8.
We had a last camping weekend, dog park visit, and a last walk. Spent his last few minutes on my lap.
We hope his littermate sister, Delilah is not affected too much. So far, OK.
Photos from Basil’s last walk with Delilah.
Sending you love. Its terrible when the time to say goodbye comes along ![]()
And from me. ![]()
This thread has been quiet, so time to give it a nudge. My wife and I have been Rover hosts for a few months — we lost our dog last July and decided to hold off on another for life reasons. Dog sitting through Rover has helped fill that gap.
One comical thing we’ve noticed is that many of the dogs we host want to be around one of us at all times … and I do mean all times. Note the most recent pup intruding on me while on the toilet.
Love it. Dogs intruding personal spaces … Never haha.
My girl is keeping is busy for sure. Looking healthier all the time after the rescue ![]()
