Scott Spark Syncros Rear Axle hexkey compatibility? Help!

I’ve only ever owned one kind of serious MTB. My wife and I both own Scott Sparks. Hence, I have no idea of compatibility or universality of the axle tools that slot nicely into our rear axles.

Can I replace the stock Syncros tool with wolf tooth or any other 6mm Allen attached to what looks like a handle from eBay or Amazon?

I’ve lost both stock Syncros tools at a loss rate of approximately 0.75 tools per year…. I might buy a spare or two

Does it matter beyond preference whether a Syncros replacement is T25 or T30?

Does it matter if it’s just a 6mm hex version?

I’m asking here before I revert to RTFM.

Um, does a normal allen key fit? If so, why not use that?

I haven’t got a Spark so I don’t know if there’s anything special about the axle. But most bikes just need an allen key these days.

The tool at the end shouldn’t matter. Looks like your Scott Spark’s lever is actually from this brand HOME - THRUAXLE.COM They have a bunch of different tool combination for their levers and you can buy a customized one. Other bike brands use them too so they should in theory also fit. Not sure if the Wolftooth one will fit

The Wolf Tooth tool only fits a Wolf Tooth rear axle. I’ve a Scott Addict and bought a gold WT tool for it and it doesn’t fit tightly into the Syncros axle. Save your $$

Great question. Almost didn’t remember why when I read your question. Had to think for a sec, duh, why don’t I do that? lol. I remembered. It’s because we lived (and will live again at least part-time) in a big RV and we take the front wheel off the bikes every time we ride. It’s a nice convenience. Man, when I write it out I realize that either I’m incredibly lazy or I’ve optimized my life to an amazing degree if I can’t reach across our 8’x8’ RV garage and get a 6mm allen. Since we lost both though, there have been a surprising number of times I’ve wished I had the 6mm hexkey with the bike. Came to rely on it!

Noted! Will do!

Great find. Purchasing. Thank you!

It should just be a 6mm hex. The t25/t30 was just an extra tool choice. Trek uses the same the same level I believe.

Just following up here. Thanks all. Received them in the mail. They seem to fit ever so slightly less snugly than the originals. So far so good though.
