“At this point all I can do is tip my hat because their tactic was a better one. I guess you could say I got caught with my pants down and stumbled trying to pull them back up.
In the end, the strongest riders prevailed.
Careful gear selection and race strategy has always been a significant part of the discipline, and this is a story of two approaches colliding.”

Prices of races in the US are crazy!. Compared to most of Europe.
Awesome! Good for PS. Not easy to admit you were wrong, especially in such a public manner.
If true that seems borderline with the “no outside support” rule
They could have just dropped them at aid stations, not necessarily with private support people. Easy enough for them to get a replacement.
How is everyone feeling 5 days out?
Not gonna lie…I am wiped! Tried a ride today and I’m exhausted!
Lots of massage gun but legs are still a little heavy. Coach slapped some easy spins on the calendar this week - they haven’t been too bad. It’s going up and downstairs that makes my quads feel like the race was just yesterday.
I did an 80 mile adventure ride going up Buffalo Pass, 14->40 back into Steamboat. Things are feeling good and I’m finally getting a sense of how to use the Supersapiens data.
Two interesting tidbits were that Buffalo Pass up was very much chunky adventure. Descending the other side was good gravel.
Next was that it was pouring when I reached west Rabbit Ears and I was considering calling for a ride down. Hit the crest and immediately the road went from soaked to dry and my entire descent was on dry roads. It poured on me the moment I hit the bottom until home.
Legs were still a wee bit heavy for our fast group ride on Thursday….steady tempo was OK, but any VO2 efforts and I was quickly out of breath (the irony being that was how I expected to feel in SBT, but never did )
Easy trainer spin yesterday.
I’m still sleeping really hard, though….
Definitely want to support the photographers but $50 seems a bit steep. Leadville events (SR and LT100) charge $15 for the Finisher Pix photos/video.
Two days driving back home didn’t help. Legs were stiff. Rested Wed and jumped back into a TR Sweet Spot workout Thursday. Felt pretty good. Sat went for a pretty hard 40 mile ride (.9 IF). I’m jumping back into training for the Santa Barbara 100 in Oct which has over 9k climbing including the Gibralter climb at 3k over 7 miles.
