Saris H3 Discussion/Issues

How to get speed / distance data to display and capture by Garmin head unit? I want to use my powermeter as a source of power and Hammer as source of speed. Is that possible? When I search for new sensors it only shows Hammer as a source of power which also includes speed & cadence data.

I think that will just happen automatically if you pair the power meter and trainer, and let Power Match work.

Have you tried a workout like that yet to see the output?

It works on TrainerRoad, but not on Garmin or at least I don’t know how to achieve that. I could also sync my workouts from TR to Garmin Connect, but then I would lose all the device specific features like VO2max estimation, Training status etc.

OK, I misunderstood your goals.

I don’t have a Garmin, but is it possible to preselect ā€œSpeedā€ sensor as the device, and then pick the Hammer ID for that on the head unit?

Which garmin do you have?

Forerunner 935

Quick update regarding speed data being translated to distance on 3rd party apps (e.g. strava): although the TR app does not calculate speeddata when you set your wheel circumference to 0, strava will still show ā€ždistanceā€œ travelled. So left with disregarding it for good.

Thanks for the update.

Let me look as I used to have a 935 and currently use a 6X. I don’t have a H3 yet but one is on order.

For everyone that does have one do you all use your wheel quick release skewer that is on your wheel or did you buy a separate one to use? Customer service said the normal skewer works fine which is why it does not come with one.

I get a skewer just for the trainer:

  1. I like the added peace of mind from using a ā€œtrainerā€ skewer.
  2. I find it a pain to swap the skewer each time I bounce between the trainer and outside wheel.

Makes sense.

I just use a regular road skewer

Tredz have £100 off a £750 spend this weekend so the H3 is £749 - is this the best price in the UK for black Friday?

0% finance too which is handy…

Been busy and set aside today to unbox and setup my H3. Wow. What a *#$&ing joke. The box had a little bit of damage, but the trainer is absolutely destroyed. It looks like there’s a steel plate on the bottom that is bent way up. This thing was obviously dropped from a pretty good height. No foam around the trainer in the box, just a bid of cardboard. Thanks REI and Saris. I’m skeptical that this happened in shipping. Maybe. So joy, now I wait until Saturday to return since REI protests black Friday. :rage:

Holy crap. Definitely shipping damage. Having gone through 3 of them, there’s no foam in the boxes, just those cardboard cutouts.

Sorry for your troubles man

Pick up my H2 yesterday. What I can say it is big update from my wheel on Bkool Smart Pro.
Also noise level is overestimated for H2 based on DCR video.

Right now have problem to update my firmware via Saris Android up. Have a red light on H2 and nothing happens…

So sorry to hear it. Hope you will receive a replacement soon.
Was nervous about my because it was shipped from Germany to Ukraine.

What part of Ukraine are you from? I was born in Kiev and moved to USA in 1998.

I live in Berdyansk (Zaporozhye region) near Azov sea. How I like when East wind blows here :joy:

In my case when I try to update firmware I have following messages:

Updating device > Downloading Firmware > Device search screen with Saris_boot device.
At this time LED became red.

Will contact support cause I have same issue on another phone too.

So I got my H3 last night from Clevertraining and just set it up. What does a bad pulley sound like? Is it like this? Same cassette (105 11 speed 11-28t) as my wheel so I don’t think it is indexing.
