Run and Swim Workout Sync Upload to Calendar

And the point remains that TR ALSO wants the multi-sport features added. They are clearly on their road map, as has been mentioned several times.

  • This is evident with the other statement recently that they are already back-filling run and swim workouts.

  • The only issue is that those tools are a lower priority with respect to the other work they have planned and are working on ahead of the m-s tools.

Wisely, they are unwilling or able to state a planned time. Too many companies make claims and then reset their timetables (often multiple times) when they are not met. I believe TR and fully expect that we will see these tools in the future. But they are not here now, and people are free to do what they need to do with that lack of functionality.

As to the speculation about percentage of users wanting/needing m-s function, that is a clearly a guess. There is no practical way for us on the outside to estimate this with any accuracy, unless we had the info that TR has on their side. They are most likely making choices on their direction based upon significant research with the data they posses. I can’t see how there is any way that they are blindly moving forward or ignoring something without good reasons to do so.

Our priorities don’t always align with them, and that is the nature of business. The m-s world has made it clear what they expect, and TR has said they have plans to address it, sometime.

Not sure there is much more to expect for now?

Seems pretty clear to me, and matches your request (short of a hard date, which is totally unrealistic to expect, IMHO, and explained well above).

I don’t know if status updates are accurately called an ā€œad campaignā€, but I’d say more info is better than less.

Exactly why I’ve left TR

Firstly, I must say that I’m a massive fan of the workouts and I’ve made good progress using them.

However, as a multi sport user i feel like the advertising to triathletes as a fully integrated training plan is a bit far. The calendar not bringing in run/swim workouts, the plans not stating total weekly training hrs, swims generating 0 TSS are all examples of how they seem to be an afterthought.

Personally, I use TR because the bike is the bit of triathlon which needs most improvement and I like to do a lot of customising of my own plans. But for someone anticipating a readymade plan and integrated calendar then I can see why TR does not live up to those expectations.

So yes, there are things that get analyzed, solutioned and then as you start executing on them, you gotta put it on the backburner for a while, even though you have a nice pre-packaged solution sitting right there. But at that moment, you just don’t have the resources to put in the effort (yet) for the final testing and implementation and what not as some other item is more important. And getting started back up on that smaller item might not be ā€œstarting where we left offā€. Sometimes it requires re-assessing, re-solutioning, etc
The bigger, core, roadmap items will definitely come first. Of course it sucks for us users that these items we really want are not in place but i feel like it’s like that in most software industries.

I’m in a similar position. I ended up buying another training plan for my upcoming IM precisely because the triathlon plans feel less well ā€œworked onā€. With the guys setting a challenge to do a full distance triathlon, my guess is that will change. I’m still using the platform and will try to find a happy medium between the two plans (and life) to get ready.

+1 the TR calendar is good but lacking without sync of swim and run from garmin etc. Not sure if I’ll stay on TR, may come back when this is sorted.

@Nate_Pearson any chance this feature is coming soon?

TR has said to be committed to these 2 long standing requests (swim/run import and better masters training support) but with the new apps still in beta and Thing 1 having priority my confidence in the speed of the TR development train has suffered a bit.

Nevertheless with the fast release of group workouts (labeled as MVP but pretty solid from the start) they have shown how to deliver…but it’s been a while now

With the controversy around ā€œsoonā€ masters support and this:

and the response

I would not expect to get a too concrete timeline.

Any update?

They are still knee deep in beta for Adaptive Training. I wouldn’t expect any work on this until a fair bit after the official release, whenever we see that.

To be fair AT is a game changer. I think to get anywhere near this for runs, swims (and hopefully strength work too @Nate_Pearson ) will take a lot of work, data and time.

Just another user hoping this functionality happens soon.

To the credit of the TR tech team, when I started on TR in February, I had a lot of issues with slow loading when I opened the program. Also struggled with my Garmin ANT+ stick connecting. After walking away for a couple of months due to injury, all these issues appear to have been fixed. Thanks!

But really want to see run and swim data transferred from Garmin. Love the program otherwise.
