Rudy Project Wing Helmet testing (from ERO Sports)

ERO Sports just posted a video on their testing of the latest Rudy Project helmet…they tested it against the Giro Aerohead and the POC Cerebrel.

Net-net: It tested really well. Not always the fastest for some athletes, but definitely the fastest for others…and when not the fastest, was there or thereabouts. Given that Rudy has never really had a helmet that tested well consistently, this is a big step forward for them.

Anyway…the video is kinda long, but worth a watch if you have a recovery day on the trainer.

(Personally though, I liked the test results for the POC Cerebrel…if anything, these results just solidified that as my choice if I buy another helmet anytime soon (not likely!). I have always liked the design, and since I have a head-down position, I am pretty confident it would test well for me (based on other testing I have done). Nice to get some hard data on the POC now.)

Upon further review, the thing tests fastest for just about everyone. Jim also said that every rider tested said it was by far the most comfortable and easiest to see out of, and was the favorite helmet overall.

They developed it in collaboration with Swiss Side, so it’s not surprising it turned out well

Who did the tests?

Jim Manton who is a bike fitter in southern California at ERO Sports. He does a lot aero testing in both the wind tunnel and Velodrome. But these tests were done out on the open road using AeroLab aero sensors
