Rory Mcllroy, the next great cyclist?

Yup. So he’s Saturday club ride good, not ‘the next great cyclist’ good.

If not Rory, how about Jimmie Johnson. There something about a bunch of good old boys rolling out of their infield RV’s in cycling kit to go for a ride around the track that just can’t wrap my head around.

yes, this is awesome. Also Reggie Miller is a huge cyclist now. He is a great follow on IG if you like bikes and basketball.

I invite you to take a trip to Jupiter, FL and ride with Camilo Villegas…report back on how bad he rides you into the ground.

Trust me, he will. Dude is a beast.

Good call there. If Spider-Man wasn’t such a good golfer he may well have been a pro cyclist. Friend has done a bunch of those Florida chain gang rides with him.

As a former golf nut, I took my Watch to record a round after I took up triathlon. While four hours carrying & walking a hilly course in the elements is exhausting my heart rate never gets up and I can’t see any physiological adaptations happening. Maybe some strength work from carrying but it’s going to be far from optimal at best, imo.

Good rest day activity though. :slightly_smiling_face:

Pretty sure you can drink and smoke on a bike.

If I ever saw Bonds on the road, he’d get guttered with a cheery “Hank says ‘Hi!’, MF’er!!!” :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hey, there are LOT’S of things that aren’t easy that I wouldn’t call a sport or athletic endeavor.

I’m incapable of ironing a shirt with any level of competence in under 20 minutes. I find it impossible. That doesnt really mean ironing is a sport. I’ve tried making sushi. If I entered a competition with any competent sushi chef, I would be just as comically inept relative to that chef as I would be trying to match Tiger on a golf course. Neither though is a real argument for the athletic legitimacy of the endeavor…

@boombang - Probably a bit of both. I’m not really trying to troll out of any sense of antagonism…but I do find a the anger from people that get genuinely upset about defending the honor of golf (and other sports…) amusing.

Sorry if I’ve offended…
