Thanks. I ride Swinley every now and again but I hear good things about the Surrey Hills, so I need to go and explore.
lol, all the big guys towering behind you thinking not much of a draft you’re giving
Hehe.
Race this past Sunday. I’m a relatively new cyclist after having hip surgery a year ago and picking it up. I have been training insanely hard and it was totally paying off. 35 miles into our 54 mile race I was with the front group of 15 and averaging 20.7 mph. Then the guy in front of me went down and took 5-6 more of us with him. I went over my bars and landed on my shoulder/head/back. Lots of road rash and a really jacked up shoulder with an MRI scheduled. One guy left in an ambulance and is having surgery tomorrow, and another cracked his frame in 7 places.
Hoping I can recover without a need of surgery as I just spent all last winter recovering from hip surgery and the winter prior recovering from a hamstring tear.
That aside, my only light of happiness here is that I was hanging with the front group and feeling strong. Could have been a heck of a race - wasn’t able to finish but at least know I can hang.
Aw, that sucks man. Hope you don’t need surgery.
Leading the front group around 35 miles into a 100 mile gravel race last weekend. Ended up in 11th with 5 hrs 12 mins, a result I was really proud of. I was hoping for 5:30, if I got with a fast group.
Wish the photo was less blurry, as it’d look great blown up otherwise. Not a position in a large group that I spend a lot of time in. ![]()
I like the ball and chain that are NOT attached to you or any of the other riders. Strange roadside prop though…
I thought it was a bit tacky but can see why they do it. The race is called “Jailbreak” in an area of Texas with the states oldest prison system and the states execution chamber.
Would have been more pumped if the photographer adjusted his shutter speed than put out a prop ![]()
Shot from a local TT yesterday. Didn’t perform as well as I had planned, but got a nice photo at least.
Little update from me. Another few from the Field of Dreams and one from Rogate B1ke Park.
Not bad for 44 ![]()
Hats off to the photographer catching us right at the line of the crit during a local omnium
Nothing super rad or sick, bro, but a friend’s wife is out of town for work and my wife had a work-related thing, so he and I got the toddlers, ate some pizza, and rode around the neighborhood with a stop at the playground. Good fun!
Some shots from Ironman 70.3 Jones Beach. My relay team actually snagged second place. I ended up being second fastest relay cyclist, then runner was 3rd or 4th relay runner, and the swimmer (which I had to find a replacement the day before the race) was around 43rd. I was very shocked by doing as well as we did, especially with how bad I fell apart on the second half. Definitely will be putting in lots more time on my TT bike if/when I do another IM relay team.
Nice job! And that’s awesome you were able to find a replacement for the swim leg on such short notice.
