Ride Photos / Action Shots!

I wasn’t planning on doing another race this season, but who can turn down a free entry? :stuck_out_tongue: The race was breezy like always and fitness is a bit down (2nd week of my off season before base again). Came in 7th overall, 1:40 behind first place (9.1mi), who was the only one in my age group too haha.

Swinley Forest?

Pitch Hill. I haven’t ridden Swinley since 2019 :open_mouth:

I haven’t been there before, any good?

Pitch Hill? All of the (Surrey)Hills in that location are epic. The best riding in the South. Pitch, Winterfold, Holmbury, Leith etc. Swinley is a bit flat

Thanks. I ride Swinley every now and again but I hear good things about the Surrey Hills, so I need to go and explore.

Race this past Sunday. I’m a relatively new cyclist after having hip surgery a year ago and picking it up. I have been training insanely hard and it was totally paying off. 35 miles into our 54 mile race I was with the front group of 15 and averaging 20.7 mph. Then the guy in front of me went down and took 5-6 more of us with him. I went over my bars and landed on my shoulder/head/back. Lots of road rash and a really jacked up shoulder with an MRI scheduled. One guy left in an ambulance and is having surgery tomorrow, and another cracked his frame in 7 places.

Hoping I can recover without a need of surgery as I just spent all last winter recovering from hip surgery and the winter prior recovering from a hamstring tear.

That aside, my only light of happiness here is that I was hanging with the front group and feeling strong. Could have been a heck of a race - wasn’t able to finish but at least know I can hang.

Aw, that sucks man. Hope you don’t need surgery.

Few shots from the recent trip to Calpe

Leading the front group around 35 miles into a 100 mile gravel race last weekend. Ended up in 11th with 5 hrs 12 mins, a result I was really proud of. I was hoping for 5:30, if I got with a fast group.

Wish the photo was less blurry, as it’d look great blown up otherwise. Not a position in a large group that I spend a lot of time in.

I like the ball and chain that are NOT attached to you or any of the other riders. Strange roadside prop though…
