Just a road ride with a friend. But his shot was pretty decent
Wattmann TT last week, 32km with 270m of climbing. 3rd place out of 38 with an average of 44.2km/h, beaten by a pro-conti rider and an ex-state champion.
A mate grabbed some great shots of the start and finish of todays ToC. The shots are good but the ride from me less so. I spent the majority of the race sat up preparing for strong winds and/or scanning for potholes. I managed a 5 power pb for the season and 9w more for the whole thing but that was mainly due to my poor position and the important stat, time saw me 1s slower. I suppose the one positive to draw it was over 10.5mins faster than my time in 2018 when I unknowingly had cancer and 28s faster than 6 years ago with nearly the same kit (frame and wheels anyway).
Edit to add “blur” for graphic injury pictures. Click if you want to see the detail.
Oregon Gran Fondo… some idiot who couldnt descend took me out going 40mph. Off the side of the mountain into the blackberry bushes I went.
That looks nasty, make sure it’s kept clean and heal fast !
Damn Make sure you scrub that good, real good
At least you’re in one piece. Healing vibes headed your way!
Some shots of my ToC Chrono around the course but tbh I think my mate’s pics at the star/finish are better and he didn’t repeatedly blind me with a ridiculous flash
This is a Z2 ride right?
Certainly feels like that!
Starting to feel less like that!
Definitely isn’t feeling like that!
The Long Freewheel!
Off to Sunday Mass, Doh, wrong day!
I do do aero sometimes

Not for long!
Smile for the camera!
Are we there yet!
FF that’s over, I can open my eyes now!
Wouldn’t normally dream of sharing a pic of me in lycra
This is one from Ride London last weekend. I started TR at the beginning of the year to try and do the 102 mile route in under 5 hours, and despite feeling unwell, managed 4:49! A whopping 40 minutes up on last year!
What did you think of the condition of the roads? I did the 100 mile on Sunday and while it’s hard to complain of 100 miles of closed roads, the condition of many was absolutely shocking!
I think you turned left at the Washingley cross roads, the TT came the opposite direction. That stretch is particularly bad and a full suspension gravel bike would have been needed
Nice shot from GFH Lehigh Valley. Unfortunately I dropped my chain a bunch on the first timed sector and attempted to mess with my rear mech at the first aid stop which then led to an epic chain drop right afterwards getting the chain stuck between the hub and cassette. No one could get it free so I had to have the wife get me after only 25 miles of the 78 miles.
Those bridges remind me of the original Dukes of Hazard
My mate had a chain stuck hard on a sportive and just when we were giving we realised that the crank would have to come off. No problem with the hex bolts but the shimano crank bolt wouldn’t fit any multi tool. The the second realisation one the Hex’s were loosened we could use tyre levers to unscrew it.
why always with leg warmers?
UV knee skins to protect them from the sun and post chemo they can get to cold on cooler days if I shave my legs.
28/29 Deg C today (according to to the Met, 34deg C according to the Garmin)
Whilst I was 28secs down on my PB the UV kneeskins were perfect; my relative no kneeskin competitors were about 2-3mins down.
Local gravel race this past weekend (Cow Pie Classic - Long Haul). Here’s me pulling the group through a particularly sandy section.
