Rest & Recovery, Motorpacing, Short Zone 2 Workouts & More – Ask a Cycling Coach 196

May seem silly, but how well do these function as a regular old travel bag (in between race days ) ? Looks like this might be a nice option to get two bags for the price of one. Can they withstand being thrown around at the airport (just filled with regular clothes, etc)?

I wouldn’t use mine for a regular travel bag. The pockets are great for my cycling gear but might be a bit small for packing clothes and such.

Personalised if your name is Wiggins…right?

Posting here since a recovery weeks were a big part of this podcast.

What do people do with their strength training programmes during a recovery week?

As I’m only in the gym once a week for maintenance, can I continue to lift my usual weights and reps without hampering recovery? I’m worried if I back off the weight/reps I will lose some strength.

@Nate_Pearson I’ve read numerous reviews on the Yeti Rambler one gallon jug that say the lid is very difficult to remove and that it leaks if you don’t tighten it enough. What has your experience been with the lid?

I’ve never had it leak, but it’s super easy to over tighten because you have a ton of leverage with the handle.

I did tighten it down so much once that it took two of us to open it.

I just don’t tighten it so hard now and it’s been good.

Inspired by Nate’s comments on the Yeti Rambler, I picked up an RTIC gallon jug back in December. Filled with hot soup or hot mint tea, it became a staple on the team table every weekend through the nordic ski season this year. We had days in single and even below zero (Fahrenheit) temps, and the RTIC jug kept its contents piping hot all day long. This jug is a winner!

That’s a good idea to keep hot green tea in there during the winter. That sounds like it would be a hit!

Nice tip!
