Recommend me some TV series to watch

For dramas / non-comedic series that aren’t “dark”, West Wing is a great option…but maybe too US specific? Dunno…

The Man In The High Castle on Prime. And Only Murders In The Building on Hulu.

-The Expanse (on Prime)
-Battlestar Galactica (Peacock)
-Moon Knight (Disney+)
-West World (Pulled from Max because they don’t want to pay residuals or some other accounting based excuse, so PPV)
-Babylon 5 (Max)
-What we do in the Shadows (Hulu)
2nd the motion for
-Justified (hulu)
-For All Mankind (Apple)
-Foundation (Apple)
-Silo (Apple)
-Russian Doll (Netflix)

I had this problem with Silo. I loved the books, but her constant switching between accents drove me insane. I’ll still watch it, but my wife gives me the stink eye for moaning about it.

The Expanse was amazing, took a bit to get into but I absolutely loved it and have started the books. Highly recommend, best thing I’ve watched in a long time.

And I cant get into Breaking Bad. Everyone has different tastes. According to my spouse mine are always different. My list is as follows.

Americans is good.
For All Mankind is extremely interesting.
Peaky Blinders
Game of Thrones
Sons of Anarchy
Battlestar Galactica 2004- Starbuck was quite the character.
Yellowstone

The Offer - About the making of The Godfather movie. Very entertaining. Drama. Single season mini-series.

The Queen’s Gambit - Loved it. Drama. Single season mini-series.

Mare of Easttown - Kate Winslet crime/drama but a little dark. Single season mini-series.

Severance - My favorite program of 2022. SciFi Mystery Drama the will have you saying WTF is going on here. Series season 1 so far. Can’t wait for season 2.

This is going to take some time to sort through . I’ll report back in the next few days.

I loved the Wool and enjoyed the first season but agree on the accent. Found it really odd. As usual, the series doesn’t live up to the books but I’ll continue to watch it anyway I’m guessing.

Wool was so good! I made everyone read it back when it wasn’t a well known book.

‘For all mankind’ on Apple TV. The Star trek series, all 4 of them (there could be more).

I once started watching physical DVDs and then watching all of the bonus features. It’s interesting what they put in those, and some features are longer than the movie!

I also started watching concert videos, like Rush, Aerosmith, Queen, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, etc… I also started watching the original ‘Lost In Space’ episodes, and it was a lot more horrific than I remembered while watching them as a kid. There is so much ‘content’ out there. Some of it really so bad, a 2 hour workout will seem to pass in minutes…

Beef & Queen’s Gambit are the only two series I can remember watching until the end since Sopranos and Entourage were dropping weekly episodes. I prefer non-fiction stuff and spend most of my time watching niche topics that I find interesting on YouTube.

When your subscription is over, just do it again.

You are the best! I literally just cancelled because of their ridiculous price increase for Apple One. Nice!

Bosch

oh - yes forgot that - excellent - just watching Legacy season 2 - v good!

I watch a bit of everything, but Queen’s Gambit, You, and Imposters get me through.

I had a 3 hour zone 2 ride yesterday with an audio book from Audible. The time flew by, it was easy.

Mix of already mentioned and new ones:

  • Game of Thrones
  • Bosch
  • Expanse
  • Bodies
  • The Wheel of Time
  • Jack Ryan
  • Altered Carbon

Some great recommendations above.

The Expanse saw me through much of my indoor rides last spring. I’m on to Peaky Blinders for this fall.

I find I can pay attention to shows like this only for easier workouts. For VO2 max workouts, I stop paying attention to the show, as I’m focused on trying to keep the pedals moving. For hard workouts, POV bikes rides have worked well for me. Megavalanche videos have been some of my favorites.
