Quads Ache/burn at The End of Hard Rides and After

Ive been doing some outdoor rides once a week with a really fast (drop) group. I get dropped but ride hard like a race. Toward the end, when I stop pedaling my thighs hurt until I pedal again. Then, they ache/burn for about 5-10 minutes after the ride before just normal soreness/fatigue.

Is this a nutrition issue or just Im going hard? It only happens on longer rides.

Just sounds like you’re digging really deep to me. AFAIK it’s not something that’s typically related to nutrition, but if it’s a race-level effort you might benefit from a higher than normal carb intake from a performance/recovery standpoint especially if it’s a longer ride.
