I’m not defending or criticizing the behavior…why does anyone post anything on social media……just pointing out that people saying “pffft…who is gonna bother to look at someone’s data?” are simply wrong.
What are the consequences of turning off Partner Integration?
I want to be able to choose what data I share. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. I think you are suggesting that because I choose to share some data it’s fine for TR to share whatever of my data they want.
I think the images and text you use on Strava should describe the workout, not give a full assessment of your fitness. Instead, show an image like the one shown when completing the workout (see image below). Athletes would also benefit from seeing the main purpose of the workout and the workout level (e.g. “Threshold 7.2”). Often, I find myself looking up TrainerRoad workouts I see on Strava to understand how my friends are working out. Adding some more information in the Strava posting can solve that. It would also be great for the marketing of TrainerRoad.

One picture? Of course not….but if you are following someone even a casual reference will let you see where they are gaining.
I like this feature!
I dont hide HR and Power on Strava, so these new graphs don’t give any further information about my fitness away.
This is the first change TR has implemented that I’m not really a fan of. It’s not the end of the world of course but I definitely prefer to not have any image uploaded.
Bumping this so everyone can see.
In the meantime, you can turn off TR images on Strava with this link.
Really like the idea to only show changes resulting from the workout. Best idea I’ve seen in this thread.
Concise, positive, shows the purpose of the work you’re doing… Really great suggestion.
Super cool! Please mark the type and progression level of the current training as well. Currently I type this in the description myself in Strava, would be nice to have this automatically added in the image. It helps the people relate the current training to the progression levels as well ![]()
Ooh, I like this idea too! I would love it to show a normal image if no progression are made, or to include just the relevant improved categories if progressions are made.
oh i’m familiar with it, but unless it’s changed, what YOU"RE not great at explaining is that if you do this you lose the workout image altogether. this is not what i (we?) want. i just don’t want to see the new progression stuff. i like the workout pic
I’m new to the forum and I’m kinda shocked there was a push to remove FTP. I can’t imagine wanting to share my rides with anyone who I want to hide my FTP or PLs from.
There are followers who you’ll never meet in life and those you’ll ride with. You’ll never fool the ones you ride with about how good you are or aren’t. That’s kind of what’s beautiful about bikes. You just show up to a race or a group ride and if you’re fast, people see it. I don’t know if my experience is unusual but my first club was supportive of me long before I could stay with the fast group (2s/3s) until the end. They saw that I was showing up to every ride and trying as hard as I could and getting faster all the time. One of them saved me from getting dropped by giving me a 5 second push when I was falling apart. The breather and the morale boost allowed to finish and I never got dropped in that group again.
Hi @Nate_Pearson.
I didn’t change any settings or turn off anything but Saturday ride didn’t post any photos at all to Strava. I’m not complaining. I know you’re dealing with a whole range of feedback both positive and negative. I just didn’t know if the change was intentional or not. FTR, I want all the data, all the photos. If it became something I need to opt-in for, I’m happy to do that.
Thanks
Same thing happened to me but I opened strava almost simultaneous time my TR workout was syncing. Dunno if that had anything to do with it—I got the workout stats but no picture.
Next workout I did the image loaded though ![]()
I’ve thought on this and I guess I just don’t really care. You can set Strava to be private if you wish to use it as your personal journal. You can set it to friends if you just want to share activities within your circle. Public if you wish to allow any user to be able to access your data. If you believe that little snip of recent TR training level data will provide significant reconnaissance to your greatest nemesis you probably shouldn’t be sharing your various activities either. I’m sure the data sharing options are coming. It’s all getting quite complicated.
Anyone else not have their images show up? I did a workout this afternoon and I’m not getting an image on my Strava account. If I don’t have the image, did the ride even happen?!
I’ll just add that I find it hilarious that some of you are sincerely worried about your PLs giving your competition a competitive advantage.
I noticed that the last two Trainer Road workouts that I uploaded to Strava has different looking images uploaded. As opposed to the simple graph looking image showing my ride it now has that, an image in the background, and in the upper left area Progression Levels in the form of a bar graph. Anyone know how I can switch this back to the “old” looking image?
I moved your post under the announcement and discussion topic.
See this post for more info about tweaks for now.
