Pro Mountain Bike Racing Discussion (Spoilers)

Yeah, that wasn’t a nice way to go down at all. Risk it for the biscuit I guess.

Hopefully he is ok for the XCO.

Definitely was laying it out there to lead into the last corner. I’m surprised he didn’t try the other line, but I guess he didn’t really have the position to move up there once he was on the hip of Sam.

anyone had any luck with the redbull broadcast? I’m in NZ but using a VPN but still can’t get the stream working

Redbull, even in the areas it is allowed, is only showing the XCO and DH (so far as I can tell).

GCN+ has the XCC and XCO U23 as well.

Looks like he popped his head on that rock, but may just be the angle I saw it.

Hump

Definitely looked like that. He popped up quick and was looking lucid and cheery when congratulating Sam so seems he got away with it :crossed_fingers:.

Doesn’t mean he remembers it today though. I crashed once and when I got home looked at Strava and didn’t remember riding the rest of the way home (another 10 miles). Stil could have had a concussion.

Blevins posted about a new helmet on IG. Must have pop the rock pretty good.

Hardtail for the win in Women’s XCO!

N1NO! What a heck of a ride!

Absolutely gutted for Sam Gaze. Had the legs too. Bugger!

what a weekend for Pauline… Sacrifices all year paid off. Great showing for H. Batten.

Both races were awesome. Had a feeling PFP would dominate after skipping the North American races. Nino’s tactics were just awesome. Pushed hard early to make Pidcock work hard while trying to catch up. The fatigue of that effort clearly impacted him on the later laps and allowed Nino to control the the last few laps.

Solid entertainment watching both races despite missing the Red Bull broadcast here in the US. Have to admit XCO MTB is by far my favorite sport to watch now despite growing up with a steady diet of NFL, MLB, and NBA.

She wins on any bike, the HT just left no room for error.

I own one of those hard tails, it is an amazing bike, every bit as good down hill as my OIZ. Just harder to lay down the power over long bumpy stretches.

Straight from World Champs to the final XCO of the season.

Some tired bodies that’s for sure. With Anton still struggling with the effects of Covid and Sam Gaze out with broken ribs and clavicle I’m going to be rooting for Nino to get a win to take him clear of Absalon.

It’ll be interesting to see who else shows up with form.

Haven’t seen a 2023 thread started, so I guess I’ll just drop this here…

Saw a recent post from Batty on instagram that included a completely unbadged Lux. Looks painted over. I saw that picture, thought it was very strange, and went down a rabbit hole. Indeed, Canyon MTB Team looks to have completely dissolved. Arsenault and Jackson are both officially on other teams. Batty straight up isn’t listed on any team for 2023. Can’t find any answers, but seems like (complete speculation) Canyon decided to pull funding. They had like 6 teams registered for the UCI season so maybe they just weren’t getting ROI from her project.

They have the collective and the team that Lecomte is on.

Batty isn’t on that level, but don’t know how she stacks up against the rest of the team.

Also, feel free to start the 2023 thread :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:.

T-minus two weeks. I for one, am fizzing.

Just watched Lenzerheide men (had forgotten the controversy there) and about to start my NVMM rewatch

Excellent coverage on GCN this morning for the XCC.

Very keen to see how Alex Wild goes in the XCM World Cup and the Kiwi’s in the XCO.

I gotta imagine we’ll have a new UCI rule regarding this by the next World Cup round. Doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of the rule.

I wouldn’t be surprised, I’d actually expect them to remove the one bike rule altogether.

I hope not though. It’s too hard for privateers to manage multiple bikes.

I don’t see a problem with the solid doofer. I wouldn’t bother with it personally.
