Preventing Saddle Sores

I’ve had a lot of problems with them, particularly in 2017 when I was on a short course of medication that caused extreme skin dryness all over.

An over-the-top bike fit solved 75% of it, sizing down said bike was 20%, and I’m still working on the last 5. I started using bag balm after every ride now and have only had one brief problem this year. I use a power saddle and the fitter suggested a pro stealth to reduce the “wings” rubbing, I may do this if I end up with issues again (saddle shape).

I’ve liked some samples of the popular “chamois butt’r” but I haven’t been able to find a similar consistency in a vegan-friendly cream.

I think there’s a lot of causes to them and each person will have a combination of common solutions that work for them.

Yeah. I just rode through it despite being very uncomfortable towards the end of 80+ mile rides. It seems to be way better since I’ve started washing everything after every ride.

I can double that for sure. I had terrible saddle sores before and none after I built the plate.

That’s great to hear that it helped so much

Fixed above and shared here for quick reference:

There is something about older links that break at some point. The hack I use to find them is just type most of the thread title into the forum search and it comes right up.

But I am happy fix links in any topics so keep tagging me if you find any and I will fix them ASAP.
