My older daughter had a similar comment recently. She’s one year out of college, moving out west next week for a teaching job, and just bought with her own savings a reliable (aka, not a college beater) car. After paying dealer’s fee, sales tax, and insurance, she needed to get it registered, which here in Maine entails paying an annual excise tax. Upon learning how much that would cost (approx another $150) she muttered,
At age 67 with one new knee and another likely I’m well into “Glory Days” (thank you Mr. Springsteen) but working hard not to act like it. Can still focus on getting better than I am today – take off some fat, build some muscle, add some CV capacity. May not go as fast as I used to, but in my mind I do:)
In the AT beta, and I do think that technology has the ability to help monitor the intensity of my workouts. I do really like the idea on the plan builder side of things to create the Friel-type longer weeks for planning purposes and hope that (along with all the other issues with PB) can be added to help AT deliver more of its potential.
Plan builder works fine for this 58 yr old Masters racer. If you’re worried about recovery, choose a low volume plan and fill in with Z2/recovery rides on the off days. As you build more confidence in the system, you’ll find that medium volume plans do allow for easy rides and days off between your hammerfests.
Give it a try for a few weeks. There’s no penalty if you bail on the occasional workout or dial down the intensity.
Yup, too many terms IMO. Common issue with searching where what actually makes sense can pre-filter good results. I get what you used and why, but it can fail as often as it succeeds. I always suggest starting with few terms (one only) and add one at a time to refine as needed.
