Paris Olympics 2024 (spoilers)

I’m not familiar with the proposed course layout but in the past it has resembled laps through a parking lot. Not scenic at all. Of course Paris has potential for some epic scenery. Are they planning to use it?

Bronze for GBR!

Got to say I’m disappointed for Potter, Beugrand was flying on national pride and blew the field away on the last lap.

How the hell Derron and Lombardi made these performances I don’t know, 2nd and 4th for them.

Kudos to former Olympic champion Duffy for 5th but way off the pace as were other stellar triathletes; Kingma, GTB, Spivey, etc

35mins until the men’s…

Nice race, but the road was slippery

The betting markets on the men’s race at the Olympics sees Alex Yee and Hayden Wilde as the two clear odds favourites as they look to continue their absorbing rivalry.

Men just started

Insane how many crashes there were in the female race. I know triathletes aren’t always the best bike handlers but this time I think its more that the roads must have been super slippery considering how many road pros were falling in the ITT.

Out of the swim :man_swimming:

Lead group all three French and Yee.

Wilde and Blu in chase group 30s back.
Edit 27s now

All came back together.

Wilde running away with it atm… 15sec in front of Yee

Great Olympics for GB so far.

Unbelievable.

I paused the coverage while having my one to one, replayed up to lap 3, Wilde way out in front, and the coverage switched channels!

Flicked over to see Yee standing on the finish line in Gold!

I’ve missed the best comeback in triathlon history!!

Just saw the final sprint on BBC highlights. Damn, that’s some acceleration.

Wilde had nothing.

It was but Wilde was blowing up in the last 1km.

Hadn’t beaten Yee in a 10km sprint so tried a different way, going out very hard and trying to hang on. I thought he was going to pull it off, until he started checking his watch every 100m in the last 1km, that’s when I though has Yee got a chance.
At one point last time over the bridge I thought he was going lose the silver place… but then lit the after burners, didnt see that coming.

Epic.

Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysee plus cobbles on the bike course, guess making it a lap course for spectators stopped it being too epic but definitely better than a parking lot!

Both races were great….Yee’s comeback was incredible. Absolutely amazing. Thought he was toast and Wilde had it locked up.

Bummed for Taylor Spivey….but she just didn’t have the run today. Maybe her chase back after T1 sapped her legs, dunno.

Glad they got the swim in, too…great setting. Not certain I could have made it back upstream if I was racing. That current was something else!

Pidcock took the B line and passed. That’s literally the point of when the travel splits (to allow riders an opportunity to pass on single track). It was a real champion move IMO. Very exciting race to watch!
