I have this. Works great and can be compressed into its pocket to be slipped in a jersey packet. No complaints.
What would people recommend thatās a bit more breathable and maybe stretchy than shakedry but still reasonably water resistant?
The ornot above sounds good but doesnāt look like any uk distributors.
Saw that
Sadly, Iām of the large persuasion ![]()
I ended up getting this
It was on sale for 50% off (always a good start in my books
), is very light, has a mesh back for heat and the front looks pretty windproof (and somewhat water resistant). The jersey pocket access is a nice bonus!
Is there anyone who has a Shakedry that would actually recommend anything else?
I couldnāt imagine not recommending it if your criteria is lightweight and packable. Thereās nothing else Iāve ever seen that is fully waterproof forever no matter how many times you wash it, packs down to the same size as a gilet, and still is really breathable.
The only downsides are cost and the assured destruction of the planet and all living things. A small price to pay really.
Maybe I have the wrong jacket, but a Google search showed £400 for a ShakeDry ![]()
Thatās way more than Iām prepared to spend, especially given my last jacket met an untimely demise when I came off the bike.
Itās just last-ever-remaining stock of Shakedry RIP, being offered at inflated prices hoping to snag someone desperate enough to own one that theyāll pony up.
Yeah sorry you might be SOL due the fabric being discontinued for environmental reasons.
Gore sold them directly, and Rapha and Castelli both made their own versions using Goreās fabric.
For the Gore version you want the Race model which seems to only still be available in small sizes: https://www.backcountry.com/b/gorewear-race-shakedry-jacket-mens
If you want a Gore product, join them on Strava and there are often 30% off deals. Or go directly to their site at gorewear.com and there are plenty of deals.
