This will put Ramp Tests on your calendar where we think they’re necessary. From there you can use those dates to perform outdoor fitness assessments if you’d like. Otherwise, once a month is a pretty good rhythm for fitness testing.
If you have the ability to perform 10 indoor TrainerRoad workouts down the road, you’ll unlock AI FTP Detection, but testing outside is perfectly fine if that’s what you prefer.
Does AI FTP only run after an indoor session? I’ve usually been prompted to run AI FTP post-indoor sessions. I do 1-2 indoor sessions monthly; the rest are outdoors for context.
You need 10 indoor TR rides to “unlock” AI FTP Detection.
If you aren’t going to ride inside at all, then you can’t use AI FTP Detection.
If you can get those 10 indoor rides in, however, you can then use AI FTP Detection even if you’re exclusively riding outside moving forward.
In this athlete’s case, since they seem to want to do 100% of their training outside, turning off AI FTP Detection could work well for them because it will place Ramp Tests on their calendar where we would recommend fitness assessments. They can then perform 20-minute tests or whatever their preference is on those days.
Thank you for your reply! I am planning to buy power meter in the spring, i have trained indoor for now two winters and without power meter outdoors 2 season in springs-autumns. Will i be able to use AIFTP for outdoor rides from now on, or i will need to do indoor training from time to time? This is really important for me. English is not my native language, simply Yes or No will be enough for me. Thank you!
Quick update, turned the AI FTP off and the plan re formulated with ramp tests built in. The ramp test is indoor only so I will just replace those with the outside 20 min test or the 8 min tests.
