Outdoor endurance ride does not match after uploading to Garmin

Let me preface this by saying that the effectiveness of the workout is probably the same. The error described below is more of a nuisance but wonder if there is a simple fix.

The issue is as follows:
In TR Workouts, many longer endurance rides (e.g. Klahane Ridge, Andrews) are composed of a series of 15-ish minute intervals. The target power for each interval ranges between 60 and 74% of FTP.

When such workouts sync to my Garmin (830), workouts like Kalahne Ridge and Andrews are tranformed into a single much longer interval.

Specifically, in TR, whether listed as indoor (blue) or outdoor (green) Kalahne Ridge is 7 ~15’ intervals some targeting 60%, others targeting 70% and still others targeting 74% of FTP. On Garmin this becomes a single long , 1hr 45’ interval with a wide target power of 60-74%.

Again, this issue is unique to long, easy rides. It does not happen with shorter interval SS, threshold, VO2 or anaerobic type intervals transferred to Garmin. And as I stressed at the beginning, I doubt it has any effect on training stimulus. I’m just wondering why endurance type workouts do not transfer to Garmin the same as other types of workouts?

We simplify some workout structures for outside versions to make them more manageable out in the real world.

Something like 7x15 seems easy enough to follow, though, so I think we must be ultra-simplifying those really long workouts.

The stimulus is very, very similar if you’re following the power targets, though, so I wouldn’t worry about that. :+1:

Definitely not a concern regarding the training effect. It’s just mentally nice to break up a 90’ interval into a series of 15’ ones. Of course this isn’t hard to do manually but since we have TR workouts that already break up long intervals why reverse engineer it, right?
