New Wahoo Device?

Yup, FCC filings and a cash infusion last year mean that Wahoo will roll out new stuff soon.

I think Wahoo showed me… “We will change colors on something that already works and roll it out as a new device. Take THAT nash031!!”

As an ex bolt user and soom to be an ex kickr user wahoo has very little credibility left with me. Their announcement lowers it even more. I would be hard pressed to purchase anything from them ever again. Unless maybe it was a 30 year revolutionary release in bike decals or something.

Maybe I’ve been lucky but I’ve never had any issues with my elemnt bolt

George, you might be saying something different if integration with Varia radar or a light network were important. Most people I know have been problem free on Wahoo and Garmin. But I’ve seen people from our club post issues on Strava for both brands. Anyways, personally I find both Wahoo and Garmin Edge 520 to be more similar than different. Not excited about either one, they both work but the Edge 520 was paid for 3 years ago so I’m still using it.

Also weird that they made a song and dance about new software updates last week and yet didn’t release them to the app store. The marketing team need a serious talking to. And likewise, I’ve unsubscribed from their mailing list as I find this type of teaser spam immensely irritating. Whatever they release will be all over the cycling press anyway.

Well hopefully Sea Otter will bring some new head unit goodness. Feel like treating myself to a new one, spend so much time staring at the thing that I reckon my Bolt needs to smarten up a bit.

I am a big fan of Wahoo, but I’m just going to take myself away and give myself a good talking to…:-1:

Agree. I get more email from Wahoo than just about anything other than Roadrunner sports and Active.com, and the Wahoo emails are essentially useless since I’m not in the market for a new trainer or computer every six months.

To me, Wahoo focuses heavily on marketing and getting products to market rapidly, and not enough on quality control for their products. Two of the three Wahoo products I’ve purchased have had issues within the first few uses, both related to quality control. I won’t be buying any more Wahoo products. Cycleops has always been reliable, and I’m batting about .500 with Garmin, but the fixes were far easier than with Wahoo. Those will be my go-tos moving forward.

Neither have I - works excellently.

Yeah I was making fun of Wahoo too.

Definitely not of you @gpl or DCR as you guys create really helpful content

I really hope they have something else to announce today besides different colors. For a company that just went through a pretty crappy year with all of the issues with the new KICKR as well as the KICKR Climb this looks to be a slap in the face to their customers. This is coming from someone who uses the Bolt and the TICKR.

Black sharpie pen, permanent marker. Works wonders.

It seems funny to me that the outrage mindset has taken over every facet of our lives. If they don’t release a new product other than this colors, ok, stupid ad move. For people to swear off a company because of a silly ad campaign seems kind of ridiculous to me, though.

Welcome to the generation of people looking for an excuse to be outraged or offended! If you don’t like something, don’t use it or better yet don’t buy it and then proceed to be outraged it doesn’t do what you want the way you want it too :man_facepalming:

Welcome to the world of marketing that seems to over-promise and under-deliver.

If they tease bigger, better, and such… I feel it’s reasonable to expect follow through. This and the recent Trek episode point to overexcited marketing groups, but that’s just my opinion.

I see more disappointment than outrage, and to a point I think it’s justified. Live by marketing, die by marketing.

Ride On!

It was cathartic to poke fun at Wahoo after the oddly enthusiastic “save the date” email. They got me a little worked up for nothing. :man_shrugging:

Indeed. Considering the Garmin announcement on Training API, I think that was a much more worthy item that should have been teased.

It will have much more impact and reach than a silly purple/blue color choice (that also happens to be nearly invisible when mounted on the bike anyway since it’s almost entirely on the low side and bottom of the Bolt…).

Wahoo’s FCC filings mean that something is coming. I figure the marketing team wanted to get any mindshare ahead of that, although the teaser they sent is not my cup of tea.

Maybe just maybe something went wrong with this new “thing” on the horizon. So they had to scramble some nonsense together and they came up with silly new bolt colors?
